A fluorescent probe for calcium ion detection that has an excellent photofading resistance and quick Cadetection kinetics and can be localized at an arbitrary site in a cell is provided. The fluorescent probe contains a compound represented by the following general formula (I) or a salt thereof:  A method for detecting intracellular calcium ions including (a) introducing the compound above or a salt thereof into a cell and (b) measuring the fluorescence emitted by the compound or a salt thereof in the cell is also provided.

Taggable fluorescent probe for calcium ion detection

Provided is a compound represented by formula (I), which can be used as a fluorescent probe that becomes highly fluorescent only in an intracellular acidic environment and can be adapted to the fluorescent imaging of an intracellular vesicle that is a microstructure.  In the formula, Rand Rindependently represent a hydrogen atom, or an alkyl group which may be substituted (wherein Rand/or Rrepresents an alkyl group which may be substituted); R, R, R, R, Rand Rindependently represent a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, or the like; X represents a functional group to which a labeling site or a target-accumulating site can be introduced, or the like; Y represents a halogen atom, an alkyl group which may be substituted, or the like; m represents an integer of 0 to 5; and n represents an integer of 0 to 5.

Acidic environment-detecting fluorescent probe

A compound represented by the general formula (I) or a salt thereof, wherein R represents a group represented by the following formula (A), (B) or (C) wherein R and R independently represent a C alkyl group, R represents an amino group, a mono(C alkyl)amino group, a di(C alkyl)amino group or a C alkoxy group and X-represents an anion, and n represents an integer of 2 to 5. The compound or a salt is useful as a ligand of inositol-1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP ) receptor.
