An airbag apparatus includes: a first left chamber that is expandable so as to cover an outer surface of a front left pillar which is located on a left side with respect to a vehicle width direction of a vehicle; a second left chamber that is expandable on the first left chamber; a first right chamber that is expandable so as to cover an outer surface of a front right pillar which is located on a right side with respect to the vehicle width direction of the vehicle; a second right chamber that is expandable on the first right chamber; and a gas supply unit that supplies a gas for expansion selectively to the first left chamber, the second left chamber, the first right chamber, and the second right chamber.

A collision prediction determination device of a subject vehicle includes: a surrounding area sensor (a camera/radar/lidar) configured to acquire surrounding area information which is information on an object present in a first monitor area including an area ahead of the subject vehicle in a traveling direction thereof; a proximity sensor (a sonar/pressure tube sensor) configured to acquire proximity information on proximity of the subject vehicle including information on a contact thereof with an object present in a second monitor area which is an area in a proximity of the subject vehicle; an interspace sensor (a sonar) configured to acquire interspace information which is information on an interspace between an in-vehicle component (a bulkhead/bumper beam) and a bumper member (a front bumper) disposed on the subject vehicle; and a collision prediction determination part configured to predict and determine a state of a collision of the subject vehicle with a vulnerable road user, including whether or not the collision has occurred, based on the surrounding area information, the interspace information, and the proximity information.

A vehicle body front structure includes a pop-up hood unit disposed on a front end portion of an enginehood of a vehicle body and configured to move upward above the enginehood by using a lift-up mechanism. The pop-up hood unit is deformable due to an input of an impact upon a collision with a target for protection. The pop-up hood unit is shaped as a plate that extends in a left-right direction of the vehicle body and has a plate surface having an inclination angle that is variable relative to a horizontal plane.

Vehicle body front structure

An air bag device has an inflator and a bag unit configured to be deployed on a front part of a vehicle body with a gas supplied from the inflator. The bag unit includes a first bag, a second bag, and a connector, which are annularly connected to one another, and when the bag unit is deployed, the first bag and the second bag are erected on the vehicle body into a mountain-like shape in such a way that the bag unit forms a substantially triangular shape as a whole.

Air bag device

An airbag system includes a bag unit which deploys on an enginehood of a vehicle body by a gas from an inflator. The bag unit is divided into bags back and forth and right and left. The bags include adjacent bags communicating with each other through communication paths. The bags include at least one upright bag to be upright on at least one fender of left and right fenders of the vehicle body. A gas flows from a front bag of the bags located at a front side of the vehicle body through communication paths to a rear bag of the bags behind the front bag and the at least one upright bag on the side of the front bag.

Airbag system

A colliding object protection apparatus inflates and deploys an airbag when the apparatus detects or predicts a collision with a pedestrian. The airbag includes a first bag to be inflated and deployed in a vehicle width direction along a front edge part of a hood of a vehicle, and a second bag to be inflated and deployed on an upper surface of the hood. The second bag is continuous with a vehicle rear side portion of the first bag. An internal space of the first bag and an internal space of the second bag communicate with each other through a first vent mechanism. The first vent mechanism is opened when an internal pressure of the first bag reaches a predetermined pressure.

Colliding object protection apparatus

A colliding object protection apparatus inflates and deploys an airbag when the apparatus detects or predicts a collision with a pedestrian. The airbag includes a front bag to be inflated and deployed in a vehicle width direction along an upper part of a front grille of a vehicle. The internal space of the front bag is partitioned into a plurality of expansion chambers by a plurality of partitioning walls provided in parallel in the vehicle width direction. A vent mechanism of the expansion chamber is configured to be opened when an internal pressure of the expansion chamber reaches a predetermined pressure.

A vehicle body front structure includes a front sub-frame configured such that a gear box is fitted to a front part of the front sub-frame, an arm portion extending from a front part of the front sub-frame forward and outward in a vehicle width direction, an impact absorbing portion supported by the arm portion, and a horn portion arranged on a front side of the impact absorbing portion.

An occupant protection device capable of protecting occupants at a higher level is provided. An occupant protection device comprises a first sensor for detecting a value concerning a rotation angle of a vehicle, a second sensor for detecting an acceleration in the vehicle longitudinal direction, and a collision determination section adapted to determinate whether or not a collision has occurred to the vehicle based on the detection result of the first sensor and to determinate whether or not the collision has occurred to the vehicle also based on the detection result of the second sensor.

Occupant protection device

A vehicle collision determination apparatus includes: a first sensor provided in a front section of the vehicle; and a determination section which determines, on the basis of output of the first sensor, whether there has occurred front collision of the vehicle. The output of the first sensor has first acceleration in a backward direction of the vehicle and second acceleration in a rightward direction and/or a leftward direction, and the determination section determines severity of the front collision by use of an integrated value of the first acceleration and an integrated value of the second acceleration.

Vehicle collision determination apparatus

A vehicle collision determination apparatus includes a first sensor and a second sensor provided in a cabin of a vehicle, and a determining portion that determines severity of a frontal collision of the vehicle based on the difference between an output from the first sensor and an output from the second sensor. The output from the first sensor includes a first acceleration in a backward direction of the vehicle, and the output from the second sensor includes a second acceleration in the backward direction of the vehicle. The first sensor and the second sensor are arranged along the backward direction.

A casing for housing an occupant protection device unit is composed of a metallic base with its plate surfaces facing upward and downward, respectively, and a main body that is put on and mounted on the surface of the base. A bracket formed integrally with the base is composed of a plate-like leg extending laterally from the edge in the base and a fastening member that is integrally formed at an end of the leg and is bolted to the vehicle body. The leg is composed of a through-hole vertically passing therethrough and the two weak portions. The two weak portions are composed of two branching portions separated by the through-hole in the leg. If an excessive collision load is exerted on the bracket from the vehicle body, the two weak portions are torn off, thereby allowing the occupant protection control unit to be protected.

Mounting structure for casing of occupant protection device control unit

A casing for housing an occupant protection device control unit is mounted to a vehicle body. The casing is composed of a metallic base mounted on the vehicle body with its plate surfaces facing upward and downward, respectively, and a main body that is put on and mounted on the base. The base has a lock portion that is deformable according to a deformation of the vehicle body caused by a collision load from a vehicle front. The lock portion, when deformed, causes a front portion of the base to be locked with at least a part of a front wall of the main body.
