A settlement terminal in which a customer can achieve a code settlement by holding a settlement tool on which a code symbol is displayed over and toward a display panel is provided. The settlement terminal according to an embodiment includes the display panel and an imaging unit. The display panel can be set to a transmissive state in at least partial area. The imaging unit is located at a reverse side of the display panel, and images the code symbol held over and toward the display panel through the area in the transmissive state of the display panel.

According to one embodiment, a commodity information browsing system includes a shelf label apparatus including a first storing section and a first transmitting section, a portable terminal including a first receiving section, a notifying section, a second receiving section, and a display section, and a server apparatus including a second storing section and a second transmitting section. The first transmitting section transmits, by radio, one shelf label code among a plurality of shelf label codes. The notifying section notifies the server apparatus of the shelf label code. The second storing section stores association information representing a relation between the shelf label codes and commodity information. The second transmitting section determines, on the basis of the association information, the commodity information associated with the notified shelf label code and transmits the relevant commodity information to the portable terminal. The display section displays an image based on the commodity information.

In a lance defect detection construction, if a lance lacks a beak at its distal end because of defective molding, the lance can not be displaced by a distal end of a terminal. In such a case, an insertion prevention surface, which is so arranged as to interfere with a retaining piece portion of the terminal, formed on a rear edge of each of side beaks formed respectively on opposite side surfaces of the lance, abuts against a front edge of the associated retaining piece portion, thereby hindering the insertion of the terminal into a terminal receiving chamber 1. As a result, the terminal is held not in a pseudo-retained condition but in an clearly incompletely-inserted condition, so that a molding defect in the lance can be easily detected.
