A radar device includes a transmitting unit, a receiving unit, and a signal processor. The transmitting unit transmits a radar wave. The receiving unit mixes the received incoming wave with the radar wave to generate a beat signal. The signal processor executes a target detection process to detect a target having reflected the radar wave. In the target detection process, a signal value is extracted from the beat signal generated by the receiving unit for each of specified times, the specified time being a reciprocal of a DC component frequency, an approximation curve of a plurality of the signal values is calculated as a DC component signal, and the calculated DC component signal is subtracted from the beat signal to generate a target signal. Based on a result of frequency analysis performed on the target signal, a target that is a source of the incoming wave is detected.

Target detector and target detection method for detecting target using radar waves

A radar apparatus transmits a radar wave, with a control parameter being set to a desired value, and acquires an initial transmission level from outside the radar apparatus, the initial transmission level being a result of measurement of a transmission level of the radar wave. At the same time, the radar apparatus receives a delayed wave of the radar wave from outside the radar apparatus, and acquires an initial reception level which is a result of measurement of a reception level of the delayed wave. The radar apparatus then sets a target reception level according to a preset target transmission level, and the initial transmission level and the initial reception level acquired. The radar apparatus then repeats update of the control parameter and measurement of the reception level until the reception level coincides with the target reception level.

Radar apparatus, radar output control system, and radar output control method

A radar apparatus includes an antenna section that transmits and receives a radar wave, a high-frequency circuit section that handles a high-frequency signal, and a low-frequency circuit section that handles a low-frequency signal. The low-frequency circuit section is arranged on a major face of a main printed board. The high-frequency circuit section and the antenna section are arranged respectively on first and second faces of a secondary printed board. Moreover, the secondary printed board is mounted to a space on the major face of the main printed board which is not occupied by the low-frequency circuit section. Consequently, it becomes possible to use the high-frequency signal by using an insulating material, which is necessary for suppression of dielectric loss, only for the secondary printed board.

Radar apparatus

In an antenna apparatus, a transmitting antenna includes transmitting-side unit antennas arranged in an arranging-direction at transmitting-side arrangement intervals. Receiving antennas are arranged in the arranging-direction at arrangement intervals. Each of the receiving antennas includes receiving-side unit antennas arranged in the arranging-direction at receiving-side arrangement intervals. The receiving-side arrangement interval is larger than the transmitting-side arrangement interval. A transmission- and reception composition characteristic, which is a composition of directivities of the transmitting antenna and receiving antenna, has a main lobe including a detection angle range. The transmitting-side arrangement interval and the receiving-side arrangement interval are determined so that, in the detection angle range, a ratio of the intensity of the main lobe of the transmission-and-reception composition characteristic at a given angle in the detection angle range to the intensity of the transmission-and-reception composition characteristic generated as a false image at the angle by wrap around becomes not less than a threshold.

Antenna apparatus

A device for detecting an azimuth has a transmission array antenna having plural transmission antenna elements arrayed along an array axis and a receiving array antenna having plural receiving antenna elements arrayed along the array axis. A reception signal is acquired for each of channels by transmitting and receiving a search wave through each of the channels. The channels are arbitrary combinations of each of the transmission antenna elements and each of the receiving antenna elements. A first spatial frequency analysis is performed along the array axis of either ones of the transmission antenna elements and the receiving antenna elements using the reception signal. A second spatial frequency analysis is then performed along the array axis of the other ones of the antenna elements using results of the first spatial frequency analysis. An azimuth of a target is determined based on analysis results from the second spatial frequency analysis.

Method and device for detecting azimuth

A radar apparatus forming a series-feed array-antenna includes an array antenna having transmission/reception antennas, and each antenna includes a plurality of antenna elements arrayed with feed-lines to be series-connected each other. A calibration line is disposed between the transmission antenna and the reception antenna via a switch which connects or disconnects the calibration line. The signal having a phase shift is transmitted via the calibration line when the switch connects the calibration line and an amount of phase shift from the signal transmitted via the calibration line is calculated based on a reference phase at the transmission antenna thereby calibrating the phase shift.

Radar apparatus provided with series-feed array-antennas each including a plurality of antenna elements

The antenna includes a first ground plate, a first dielectric substrate formed on the first ground plate, a transmission line made of a conductive material formed on the first dielectric substrate, and a plurality of antenna elements electromagnetically coupled to the transmission line. The transmission line is constituted of at least one first line serving as a resonator having a resonator length equal to (2n&#x2212;1)/2 times (n being a positive integer) a guide wavelength of the transmission line and a plurality of second lines each having an electrical length longer than half the guide wavelength, the first and second lines being disposed alternately at predetermined intervals. Each of the antenna elements is electromagnetically coupled to a corresponding one of the second lines.

Antenna

The present invention provides, as one aspect, a microstrip array antenna including a dielectric substrate, on a back face of which a conductive grounding plate is formed, and a strip conductor formed on the dielectric substrate. The strip conductor comprises a feeding strip line which extends in an extension direction, and at least two radiation antenna elements. At least one of the antenna elements is connected with one side of the strip line, and at least one of the antenna elements is connected with the other side of the strip line. The longitudinal directions of the antenna elements are parallel to each other and are at an angle of other than 90&#xb0; with respect to the extension direction. The strip line has a bending shape and fully extends in the extension direction so that the antenna elements are connected with the strip line at the same angle.

Microstrip array antenna

The array antenna includes a feed line, and a plurality of radiating element sections arranged at a predetermined arranging interval in a first direction, each of the radiating element sections including at least one radiating element fed a traveling wave through the feed line. The inter-element line length as a length of the feed line between each succeeding two of the radiating element sections is longer than the arranging interval in the first direction.

Array antenna and radar apparatus

The microstrip array antenna includes a dielectric substrate formed with a conductive ground plate at a back surface thereof, and strip conductors formed on a front surface of the dielectric substrate. The strip conductors includes a linear main feeding strip line, and a plurality of array elements connected to the main feeding strip line, the array elements being disposed at least one of both sides of the main feeding strip line at a predetermined interval along a longitudinal direction of the main feeding strip line. Each of the array elements includes a sub-feeding strip line connected to the main feeding strip line, a rectangular radiating antenna element connected to a terminal end of the sub-feeding strip line, and a stub connected to the sub-feeding strip line. The stub is disposed between the main feeding strip line and the radiating antenna element.

A plurality of array antenna elements are divided in terms of a set constituted of an optionally selected L number of groups. The spaces between the array antenna elements are determined by obtaining a greatest common divisor of the set as a greatest common divisor of inter-group element spaces, the set having, as components, greatest common divisors of inter-element spaces of the individual L number of groups in the set, obtaining a greatest common divisor of inter-group element for every number L equal to or less than the maximum number of incoming waves by changing the number L of group components, and allowing a direction not to be caused in the radar scanning region by a number equal to or more than L+1, on the basis of the greatest common divisor of inter-group element spaces for every number L of group components, the direction being linearly dependent on an incoming wave corresponding to the greatest common divisor of inter-group element spaces.
