An implantable lead for sensing mechanical activity of a human heart has an insulating polymeric tube extending from a proximal end to a distal end of the lead, an electrical conductor provided in the lumen of the polymeric tube, and a sensor connected to the conductor at the distal end thereof. The polymeric tube is provided with a conductive surface layer along the inner face between the polymeric tube and the electrical conductor, the conductive surface layer being in electrical contact with this conductor. Accumulation of electrical charges between the electric conductor and the polymeric tube is thereby prevented.

A lead arrangement conducts respective output signals from the first and second sensors to processing circuitry that processes the first and second sensor output signals to produce a synchronization signal therefrom indicative of synchrony in the respective valve plane movements at the first and second cardiac wall locations.

A method and a system for jetting droplets of viscous medium, such as solder paste, onto a substrate, such as an electronic circuit board. The volume of the droplets are adjusted by regulating the amount of viscous medium that is fed into a jetting nozzle for subsequent jetting of the viscous medium droplets therefrom. The exit velocity of the jetted droplets is adjusted or maintained substantially constant by regulating the velocity with which the viscous medium is impacted. Furthermore, the rate at which viscous medium is fed, for instance by a feed screw, into the nozzle is adjusted in order to regulate the feeding time required for feeding the viscous medium into the jetting nozzle, for instance in order to maintain a constant feeding time.

An implantable heart monitoring system has a control circuit that operates an implanted vibrator to emit a vibration signal that interacts with tissue in vivo. A vibration sensor detects vibrations after interaction with the tissue, and supplies a detection signal to the control circuit. The control circuit analyzes the vibrations in the detected signal relative to the vibration signal, and derives information concerning at least one mechanical property of the heart therefrom, such as stiffness and/or thickness of at least a part of the heart.

In a system and method for monitoring cardiac synchrony in a human heart, a first sensor is positioned at a first cardiac wall location of a heart that is subject to movements related to longitudinal valve plane movements along the longitudinal axis of the heart, and the first sensor measures said cardiac wall movements at the first cardiac wall location and emits a first sensor output signal corresponding thereto, a second sensor is positioned at a second cardiac wall location of the heart that is subject to movements related to longitudinal valve plane movements along the longitudinal axis of the heart, and the second sensor measures the cardiac wall movements at the second cardiac wall location and emits a second sensor output signal corresponding thereto. A lead arrangement is electrically connected to the first and second sensors and conducts the first and second sensor output signals therefrom to processing circuitry that processes the first and second sensor output signals to produce a synchronization signal therefrom indicative of synchrony in the respective valve plane movements at the first and second cardiac wall locations.

A medical system has an implantable heart stimulator with sensing and stimulating pairs of electrodes, with an electric field through the heart being generated by the respective pairs by the application of alternating voltages at a preset frequency to the respective pairs. A signal receiver receives a signal representing the voltage potential difference between the voltage potential at one of the electrodes in the pair, and a reference electrode. The detected voltage is related to the generated electric field, and the signal receiver generates a potential different signal that is supplied to a control unit to determine parameters therefrom representing cardiac activity.
