A recording device provides, when a first mode that is a recording mode for increasing concentration of black is selected, in a first nozzle row including first nozzles capable of discharging a first ink representing black by a single color or a mixed color, and a second nozzle row including second nozzles capable of discharging a second ink having a lower pigment concentration than a black ink and being an achromatic color, a nozzle unused region by a first nozzle not discharging a first ink and a second nozzle not discharging a second ink, between a first nozzle usage region including the first nozzle discharging the first ink onto the recording medium, and a second nozzle used region including the second nozzle for discharging the second ink onto a region of the recording medium onto which the first ink is discharged.

Recording device and recording method

A recording device includes a head including a plurality of nozzles discharging ink droplets and a head including a plurality of nozzles discharging ink droplets of a color identical to that of the ink droplets, a driving circuit configured to drive the former head at a drive voltage and drive the latter head by another drive voltage, an input unit configured to receive an input of selection information selected, based on comparison between a print image printed by the former head and a plurality of other print images Gprinted by the latter head, with the other drive voltage being changed individually, and a control unit configured to control the drive voltage and the other drive voltage, based on the selection information input from the input unit.

A color correcting method for compensating a color drift in a printing device includes determining an ink recording rate having a maximum variation of colorimetric data from among a plurality of stages of ink recording rates. The variation of colorimetric data occurs by means of a variation of an amount of ink adhering on the printing medium on each printing device. The color correcting method includes controlling the printing device to print a standard image of the determined ink recording rate on the printing medium. The color correcting method also includes compensating a color drift in the printing device having printed the standard image by correcting the printing data based on a result of comparing the standard image of the ink recording rate having the maximum variation printed on the printing medium with a reference standard image.

Color compensation of printing device

Patches (standard images) are printed on a printing medium with a standard ink recording quantity with a printer (printing device)filled with alternative ink different from corresponding inks. The printed patches are subjected to colorimetry in the Lab color space (predetermined color space) to acquire alternative colorimetry data. The acquired alternative colorimetry data is converted into predictive colorimetry data obtained when patches are printed on a printing medium with the standard ink recording quantity with the printerfilled with the corresponding inks and subjected to colorimetry in the Lab color space. ID (error information) that represents the result of correlation between the predictive colorimetry data obtained by the conversion and predetermined reference colorimetry data is acquired.

Method and device for acquiring information for compensating color drift and medium with program for the same recorded thereon

An ID (error information)expressing the results of comparing calorimetric data obtained by measuring in the color space Lab (the specified color space) the color of each patch for correcting color (standard image) Pof the standard dot recording rate (ink recording amount) printed by a printer (printing device)on printing paper (printing medium) is acquired and the acquired IDis used to correct dot amount data (printing data) expressing the image and to make dot amount data for compensating color drifts in image for printing printed by a printerout of the dot amount data. When it has become necessary to reset color adjusting ID for the printerbecause of the replacement of component parts or other causes, even in an environment where the printing condition that had been adopted for setting the ID in the past cannot be recreated, it is easy to calculate the ID of the equivalent value as those that would have been calculated if the printing condition that had been adopted for setting the ID in the past can be made available by using the color component conversion function. As a result, it will be no longer necessary to maintain materials and equipment in a good and unified state in the production site of products or at places where after-sales services are rendered.

Error information acquiring method and print controlling method

A variation in a discharge characteristic among respective nozzles of an inkjet printer is corrected. A color correction table generating section, (1) based upon error information (nozzle classes) representing errors of color values of outputs due to errors in ink weights for three types of dots (large, middle, and small) respectively for multiple types of ink colors (CMYK), determines a second correspondence between tone values of color-converted image data and combinations of respective recording ratios of the three types of dots so that the error is approximately zero, and (2) determines combinations of a first tone value and a second tone value so that a total ink discharge quantity according to a first correspondence (SML table recording section) of the first tone value representing color-converted image data and a total ink discharge quantity according to a second correspondence of the second tone value representing the color-converted image data are approximately equal. The color correction sectionoutputs a first tone value upon image data in CMYK being considered as a second tone value, and provides an SML dot number determining sectionwith the output as a tone value of the image data in CMYK.

Print control apparatus, method, program, and recording medium

The method of the present invention generates print data to be supplied to a printing module, which ejects ink to form dots on a printing medium. This method includes a dot data generation step of generating dot data, which represent a dot formation in respective pixels, according to pixel values of given video data with regard to the respective pixels. The dot data generation step includes the step of generating the dot data, such that a dot formation with respect to at least part of the pixel values in a pixel belonging to an end area located on an end of the printing medium is different from the dot formation in a pixel belonging to a middle area located in a middle of the printing medium, so as to prevent adhesion of ink to the printing module.
