Tube end connector which connects a first tubular member and a second tubular member while securing sealing performance is provided. The tube end connector according to the present invention is provided with a heat-shrinkable Teflon&#xae; tubewhich covers both outer surface of an end portion of a zeolite membrane covered ceramic tubeand outer surface of an end portion of a metal tubein conditions of jointing the end portion of the zeolite membrane covered ceramic tubeand the end portion of the metal tube; and a heat-shrinkable fluororubber tubewhich is placed at the region between the heat-shrinkable tubeand the outer surfaces both of the first tubular member and the second tubular member, and which has solvent resistance and swelling property.

A resistance element comprising at least a resistance element body comprised of a ceramic including &bgr;-SIALON of a composition expressed by Si Al O N (where, in the formula, z&equals;0.3 to 1.0) and an internal conductor embedded inside the resistance element body, wherein the internal conductor includes a conductor material containing tungsten and carbon and having an atomic ratio of carbon to tungsten of 0.4 to 1.1 and an insulator material and the volume ratio of the insulator material to the conductor material is 0.25 to 1.5. Such a resistance element can be used over a long time under a high temperature environment, has little fluctuation in resistance even with repeated rises and falls between room temperature and a high temperature, can withstand oxidation at a high temperature, and is otherwise superior in durability.

Resistance element and method of production of same

Concerning a resistance element comprising a laminated and sintered article of an insulating material substrate layer and a conductor layer formed on or embedded in the insulating material substrate layer, a material which is constituted of tungsten and carbon and has an atomic ratio of tungsten to carbon equal to 1:0.4 to 1:0.98 is used as said conductor layer. Such resistance element can be used at a temperature of 1400.degree. C. or more and even further at a temperature of 1500.degree. C. or more. The resistance element can increase its temperature rapidly to 1100.degree. C. or more within about 3 seconds without any control circuit. The resistance element is a rapid temperature-rise resistance element with a high ignition performance constituted of ceramics with superior durability including resistance to repetitions of temperature increase and decrease, and resistance to oxidation at a high temperature.

Resistance element

The invention provides a rapid temperature rise heater element comprising an exothermic section (1) and a lead section (2), the exothermic section (1) comprising an exothermic section conductor of ceramic material which includes at least four stacked exothermic section conductive layers (1a) with an exothermic section insulating layer (1c) of ceramic material interposed therebetween and connections (1b) each for connecting adjacent exothermic section conductive layers (1a). The lead section (2) includes first and second lead section conductive layers (2a and 2b) electrically connected to the uppermost and lowermost exothermic section conductive layers (1a), respectively, the first and second lead section conductive layers (2a and 2b) being stacked with a lead section insulating layer (2c) of ceramic material interposed therebetween. A durable rapid temperature rise heater element can be efficiently fabricated at low cost while maintaining heater performance.

Rapid temperature rise heater element

A rectangular plate shaped rapid temperature rise heater element includes a sintered insulating ceramic layer, an exothermic section, and first and second lead layers for applying voltage across the exothermic section to develop heat. Typically the sintered insulating ceramic layer, exothermic section, and lead layers are formed of ceramic compositions composed mainly of an identical insulating component in the form of a metal oxide, typically Al.sub.2 O.sub.3 and an identical conductive component in the form of a metal silicide and/or carbide, typically MoSi.sub.2, blended in different ratios for the respective layers. The heater element is easy and inexpensive to manufacture, capable of rapid heating, and durable.

Ceramic heater

A copper electrode is firmly bonded to a sintered aluminum nitride body by applying a copper film on a sintered aluminum nitride body by electroless or electrolytic plating, evaporation or sputtering, and heat treating the copper film on the body at a temperature of 900.degree. to 1083.degree. C. in a weakly oxidizing atmosphere.

A sintered aluminum nitride body is produced by adding to aluminum nitride powder at least one sintering aid selected from the borides, carbides, nitrides and fluorides of calcium, strontium, barium and rare earth metals and mixtures thereof in an amount of 0.01 to 10% by weight ofthe aluminum nitride, molding the mixture, and sintering in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.

Sintered aluminum nitride body and method for making

A sintered aluminum nitride body is produced by adding to aluminum nitride powder at least one sintering aid selected from the nitrides and hydrides of calcium, strontium and barium and mixtures thereof in an amount of 0.01 to 10% by weight of the aluminum nitride, molding the mixture, and sintering in a non-oxidizing atmosphere.

Sintered aluminum nitride body

A sintered body of silicon carbide having an outstandingly high density is readily obtained by sintering a shaped form of a powdery blend composed of a silicon carbide powder, an aluminum borate as a sintering aid and a carbonizable organic compound mixed together in a limited proportion.
