A hybrid vehicle is provided. A vehicle V has a gasoline particulate filter (GPF) provided on an exhaust passage to capture particulate matter (PM) included in exhaust, a generator motor connected to a crank shaft of an engine, an exhaust temperature sensor acquiring a filter temperature correlated with a temperature of the GPF, and an electronic control unit (ECU) performing motor drive control for rotating the crank shaft with the generator motor when a filter temperature is higher than or equal to a PM combustion start temperature and a PM combustion integration amount that is an integration amount of PM combusted in the GPF is less than a PM discharge integration amount.

The intake control system calculates a maximum intake air amount, sets a plurality of provisional intake air amounts within a range of 0 to the maximum intake air amount, calculates torques estimated to be output from the engine with respect to the provisional intake air amounts, respectively, selects a minimum provisional intake air amount that makes the estimated torque equal to or close to the target torque from the relationship between the provisional intake air amounts and the estimated torques, and sets the same as the target intake air amount.

A control system for an internal combustion engine having a throttle valve disposed in an intake passage of the engine. A target intake air amount of the engine is calculated, and an intake pressure of the engine is estimated. A wide-open intake air amount is calculated according to the engine rotational speed, and a theoretical intake air amount is calculated according to the wide-open intake air amount and the intake pressure. The wide-open intake air amount is an intake air amount corresponding to a state where the throttle valve is fully opened, and the theoretical intake air amount is an intake air amount corresponding to a state where no exhaust gas of the engine is recirculated to a combustion chamber of the engine. further, an exhaust gas recirculation ratio is calculated using the theoretical intake air amount and the target intake air amount, and a target output torque of the engine is calculated using the target intake air amount and the exhaust gas recirculation ratio. The in-cylinder pressure detection device comprises an in-cylinder pressure sensor that detects in-cylinder pressure as a detected in-cylinder pressure. An engine control unit includes pressure detector provided in a combustion chamber of the engine. A motoring pressure of the engine is estimated. A combustion starting time is detected when the difference between an internal pressure detected by the pressure detector and the pressure estimated by the ECU exceeds a predetermined value. When the internal pressure detected by the pressure detector reaches its peak after the combustion starting time has been detected, the crank angle at this time point is determined to correspond to the maximum internal cylinder pressure that is generated by combustion.

A control system for an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The engine has an exhaust gas recirculation device which includes an exhaust gas recirculation passage for recirculating exhaust gases from the engine to an intake system of the engine, and an exhaust gas recirculation control valve provided in the exhaust gas recirculation passage, for controlling a flow rate of the exhaust gases. An air-fuel ratio control amount is calculated based on an output of the air-fuel ratio sensor provided in the exhaust system of the engine. The air-fuel ratio of the air-fuel mixture supplied to the engine is controlled with the air-fuel ratio control amount. A failure of the exhaust gas recirculation device is determined based on a changing component of the air-fuel ratio control amount when changing an opening of the exhaust gas recirculation control valve in a predetermined cycle.
