The present invention relates to a print quality inspection apparatus comprising: an illuminator (orA-C) for irradiating light onto a printout () provided with a motion thread (); a camera (orA) for capturing an image of the printout; and a print quality inspection unit () for inspecting the print quality of the printout () on the basis of image data captured by the camera (orA). The camera () captures images of printouts () for each RGB color, and the print quality inspection unit () performs a print quality inspection having a scope that includes the motion thread () on the basis of image data of a color of the same hue as the color of the motion thread (), or the illuminator (A-C) emits a color of the same hue as the color of the motion thread (), and the monochrome camera (A) captures a monochrome image.

An inspection apparatus for a sheet includes: white LED illuminators which irradiate a sheet of paper with light containing visible light: IR-LED illuminators which irradiate the sheet of paper with light containing infrared rays: two visible color cameras; one IR monochrome camera: an IR filter which eliminates the visible light in the light emitted from the white LED illuminators and the IR-LED illuminators and reflected off the sheet of paper, and makes only the infrared rays incident on the IR monochrome camera; and a control device which determines appropriateness of a pattern portion on the sheet of paper on the basis of the visible light made incident on the visible color cameras, and determines appropriateness of pattern portions on the sheet of paper on the basis of the infrared rays made incident on the IR monochrome camera.

An inspection apparatus for a sheet of paper subjected to a process to impart a translucent property such as a 'watermark' or a 'security window' includes: an inspection cylinder in which a surface facing the sheet of paper is provided with a luminescence-producing portion; UV-LED illuminators which irradiate the sheet of paper with light containing the ultraviolet rays; a color camera which images the sheet of paper; an ultraviolet cut filter which eliminates the ultraviolet rays in the light emitted from the UV-LED illuminators and reflected off the sheet of paper as well as the luminescence-producing portion and makes only the light having wavelengths longer than wavelengths of the ultraviolet rays incident on the color camera; and a control device which determines appropriateness of a processed portion on the sheet of paper having the translucent property on the basis of luminescence in a visible light range produced by the luminescence-producing portion and made incident on the color camera.

This invention discloses a printing quality inspection apparatus including a light irradiation device, an image capture device, a diffusely reflecting plate, and a determination device. When a member to be printed is a first sheet member, light emitted by the light irradiation device is diffusely reflected by the first sheet member and enters the image capture device. When the member to be printed is a second sheet member, the light emitted by the light irradiation device is diffusely reflected by the diffusely reflecting plate, is specularly reflected by the second sheet member, and enters the image capture device.
