A motor vehicle transmission system, for use on a motorcycle, for example, includes a sensor for detecting a direction in which a shift pedal is operated for an upshift or a downshift, a torque direction sensor for detecting a direction in which the torque is transmitted between an engine and a drive wheel, and an engine output power control assembly responsive to output signals from the sensors for temporarily increasing or reducing the output power of the engine, so that a transmission mechanism can be shifted without disengagement of a clutch.

Rocker arm clearance removing device wherein a hydraulic adjuster applies torque to a pressure bearing surface at right angles thereto on a curved outwardly extending pressure bearing arm of an eccentric cam which eccentrically supports the rocker arm. Rotation of the rocker arm resulting from the torque causes the rocker arm to come into pressure contact with a valve operating cam and an intake or exhaust valve. An engaging piece can be provided radially extending from the eccentric cam circumferentially spaced from the pressure bearing arm for engaging a swivel stop on the case of the hydraulic adjuster to limit swinging of the eccentric cam and rocker arm during assembly. An arm stopper can also be provided on the case of the hydraulic adjuster to prevent swinging of cam and rocker arm in the opposite direction during assembly.

Rocker arm clearance removing device

A motorcycle having a swing-arm front suspension mechanism includes front and rear wheels, an engine disposed between the front and rear wheels and having an engine block, a front wheel steering knuckle disposed on one side of the front wheel and by which an axle of the front wheel is rotatably supported, an upper swing arm having a front end pivotally coupled to the knuckle and a rear end pivotally coupled to an upper portion of the engine block, the upper swing arm extending between the knuckle and the engine block, a lower swing arm having a front end pivotally coupled to the knuckle and at least one rear end pivotally coupled to a lower portion of the engine block, the lower swing arm extending between the knuckle and the engine block, and a damper having an upper end pivotally coupled to the engine block intermediate between two positions where the rear ends of the upper and lower swing arms are pivotally coupled to the engine block, and a lower end pivotally coupled to a base of the lower swing arm. The motorcylce also includes an arm mechanism disposed below the lower swing arm, the lower end of the damper being pivotally coupled by the arm mechanism to the base of the lower swing arm.

Motorcycle

An engine of the V-type employing camshaft drive trains each including the crankshaft, two idle gear wheels held within a gear retainer and overhead camshafts. The idle wheels are of increasing diameter from the crankshaft to the camshafts. A transmission main shaft is placed relatively close to the crankshaft because of this arrangement. A backlash adjustment mechanism is employed with the mounting provided by the gear retainer. An eccentric journal portion of an axle allows adjustment through angular adjustment of the axle. A spring mechanism may provide appropriate torque on the eccentric axle mechanism to properly control backlash. Once properly positioned, the mechanism may be locked in place for normal engine operation.

Side mounted V-type 4-cycle engine

A motorcycle with a two-cylinder V-type engine employs an exhaust manifold comprising exhaust pipes connected to the engine cylinders and extending laterally inward to a central tubular support in front of the engine. A turbocharger device mounted on said support includes a turbine driven by exhaust gases from the exhaust manifold and an air compressor coupled to the turbine to deliver air under pressure to the intake system of the engine.

Turbocharger for motorcycles

The present invention is directed to a V-type multi-cylinder internal combustion engine mounted on the middle portion of a vehicle body having front and rear wheels. The internal combustion engine has a supercharger comprising an exhaust turbine provided in an exhaust passage of the engine and a compressor provided in an intake passage of the engine and arranged to be driven by the turbine. In the present invention, an expansion chamber is interposed in the intake passage so as to be positioned between an outlet opening of the compressor and respective intake pipes extending from respective intake ports of the cylinders of the engine. The expansion chamber is placed in a space defined by a V bank of the engine.

Supercharger apparatus for internal combustion engine in motorized

An exhaust manifold device for an engine including at least one pair of cylinders arranged substantially in the form of a V and a turbosupercharger driven with exhaust gases of the cylinders to supply compressed air thereto. The exhaust manifold device comprises a pair of exhaust gas inlet members for receiving the exhaust gases, the inlet members being connected integrally with either of the cylinders, a pair of communication members for conducting the exhaust gases, the communication members having the longitudinal lengths thereof variable and either ends thereof connected with either of the inlet members, and an exhaust gas collecting member for collecting the exhaust gases to supply same to the turbosupercharger, the collecting member being connected with the respective other ends of the communication members. In hot temperature operation, the thermal expansion of the exhaust manifold device can be effectively absorbed, thus eliminating undue stresses.

Exhaust manifold device for engines

A supercharger apparatus is provided which comprises a reciprocating type internal combustion engine having a block, an exhaust passage and an intake passage, and also having an exhaust turbine which is provided in said exhaust passage. A compressor is provided in said intake passage, along with a shaft for interconnecting said turbine and said compressor, the shaft being supported in a bearing hole which is formed in the engine block. A lubrication oil passage, which is in communication with the bearing hole, is formed in the engine block.

Supercharger apparatus for internal combustion engine

A supercharger apparatus for an internal combustion engine having an intake passage member coupled to the internal combustion engine. The intake passage member comprises a compressor, a pre-chamber on the downstream side of the compressor, a throttle valve on the downstream side of the pre-chamber, and a heat insulating elastic member interposed between the compressor and the pre-chamber and between the pre-chamber and an intake port of the engine. The portion of the intake passage that has the pre-chamber and the valve is supported in a floating condition by said elastic member on both ends thereof.

A turbosupercharger includes an exhaust turbine and a compressure, each connected together by an intermediate shift. The exhaust turbine is disposed in an exhaust passage positioned at downstream side of an exhaust manifold positioned in front of an engine and connected to an exhaust port of the engine. The compressor is disposed in an intake passage connected to an intake port of the engine. The exhaust port and intake port are positioned at front and rear sides of the engine, respectively. The exhaust turbine and the compressor are disposed sidy by side and transversely provided with respect to a frame of motorcycle and in front of said engine. The rotational axis of the turbosupercharger is rotated downwardly at the side near the engine, and the compressor is provided with a scroll opening oriented upwardly. Further, the exhaust manifold is covered with a cover member spacedly positioned in front of the manifold.
