A developing device includes: a rotating member that passes a developer while rotating to an image holding body on which a latent image is formed; a housing in which a circulation path through which the developer to be supplied to the rotating member circulates and a branch path that is branched from the circulation path and through which a part of the developer is transported are formed; and a wall portion that forms the branch path at a part of the housing and in which an output port from which the developer is output to an outside and an exhaust port from which air in the branch path is output to the outside above the output port are formed.

A developing device includes a developing rotator configured to rotate through a developing region while carrying a magnetic developer, a supply transport member configured to rotate to transport the developer to be supplied to the developing rotator, a non-magnetic movement assist member arranged between the developing rotator and the supply transport member, and having a slope that receives the developer from the supply transport member and moves the developer to the developing rotator, a first adjusting member having a facing surface that faces, with distances, the slope of the movement assist member and a surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the movement assist member, and configured to adjust a movement amount of the developer from the movement assist member to the developing rotator and a carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator, and a second adjusting member having a distance from the surface of the developing rotator at a part passing over the first adjusting member, and configured to adjust the carrying amount of the developer on the surface of the developing rotator before the developer reaches the developing region. A first minimum distance between the slope of the movement assist member and the facing surface of the first adjusting member, a second minimum distance between the facing surface of the first adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator, and a third minimum distance between the second adjusting member and the surface of the developing rotator are reduced in descending order.

A powder transport apparatus includes a housing and first and second transport members. The housing includes first and second transport paths that are separated by a partition wall extending in one direction. The first and second transport paths are connected by first and second connection ports. The first and second connection ports are separated in the one direction with the partition wall interposed therebetween. The first transport member is provided in the first transport path. The first transport member transports powder. The second transport member is provided in the second transport path. The second transport member transports the powder. A transport force of the second transport member at a portion of the second transport member where the second transport member faces the first connection port is smaller than a transport force of the second transport member at a portion where the second transport member faces the partition wall.

An image forming apparatus includes an image carrier that holds an image, a developer carrier that holds a developer to be supplied to the image carrier, a transport member that transports the developer in an axial direction of the developer carrier, and a restraint member that restrains the developer, which has scattered as a result of being transported by the transport member, from moving toward the developer carrier.

A developing device includes a developing sleeve and a regulation portion. The developing sleeve includes a magnetism generating portion to which magnetic poles are attached. The developing sleeve holds a developer on an outer circumferential surface. The regulation portion includes a magnetic plate. A first segment connecting a peak position of the magnetic pole disposed at a position facing the magnetic plate and an axial center of the developing sleeve has an angle, with respect to a second segment connecting the magnetic plate and the axial center, equal to or less than 7 degrees on a downstream side in a rotation direction of the developing sleeve and equal to or less than 6 degrees on an upstream side in the rotation direction. An angle of a half value width of the magnetic pole is equal to or greater than 41 degrees to equal to or less than 52 degrees.

An image forming apparatus includes an image forming section and a controller. The image forming section transfers a toner image to a transfer target and includes plural developing units. The plural developing units include a first developing unit and at least one second developing unit. The plural developing units each include an image holding body and a developing roller. The image holding body has an outer circumferential surface and is rotated. The controller controls the image forming section so that, when a low-area-coverage portion and a high-area-coverage portion are disposed adjacent to each other and are formed by the first developing unit, a correction toner image is superposed on a boundary portion, where the low-area-coverage portion and the high-area-coverage portion are adjacent to each other, by the at least one second developing unit.

A transport mechanism includes: a container that stores a specific developer; a transport body that transports the developer in an axial direction of a shaft about which the transport body rotates in the container while stirring the developer; a bearing that supports the transport body such that the transport body is rotatable about the shaft; and a restricting portion that has a substantially annular shape and a maximum magnetic force of about 20 mT or greater and about 50 mT or smaller and restricts the transportation of the developer past the restricting portion by surrounding the shaft, the restricting portion being provided nearer to a side on which the transport body transports the developer than the bearing in the axial direction of the shaft.
