A relief valve for a compressor includes a valve body, a relief port, a cap and a cover. The relief port is formed in the end of the valve body and refrigerant gas is blown out through the relief port if pressure in the compressor is excessively increased. An engaging portion is formed in the cover so as to be engageable with the valve body such that the cover is prevented from moving relative to the valve body. With the cover is mounted on the valve body through the cap, the relief port is covered by the end of the cap, a first clearance is formed between the ends of the cap and the valve body so as to be in communication with the relief port, and a flowing passage for refrigerant gas blown out through the relief valve is formed from the relief port through the first clearance.

A compressor includes a discharge chamber and a retaining passage, which is located downstream of the discharge chamber. A control valve controls the displacement of the compressor in relation to the pressure difference between a first pressure monitoring point in the discharge chamber and a second pressure monitoring point in the retaining passage. A pressure introducing passage connects the retaining passage to the control valve. The pressure introducing passage has an opening to the retaining passage. An inlet member is located in the retaining passage to cover the opening. The inlet member has a pressure introducing port that functions as the second pressure monitoring point. The pressure of the refrigerant in the retaining passage is supplied from the pressure introducing port to the control valve through the pressure introducing passage. The inlet member easily alters the position of the pressure introducing port in the retaining passage.

Air conditioner

Compressor are taught that may include a suction port to draw refrigerant and a discharge port to discharge compressed refrigerant. A driving shaft is disposed within a compressor driving chamber. A swash plate is inclinably and slidably coupled to the driving shaft. The swash plate rotates together with the driving shaft at an inclination angle with respect to a plane perpendicular to the rotational axis of the driving shaft. A cylinder bore is disposed adjacent to the compressor driving chamber. A piston is disposed within the cylinder bore and an end portion of the piston is connected to a peripheral edge of the swash plate by a shoe. Preferably, the piston reciprocates within the cylinder bore to compress the refrigerant in response to rotation of the inclined swash plate. A rotor is connected to the driving shaft. A hinge mechanism connects the swash plate with the rotor and transmits torque from the driving shaft to the swash plate regardless of the inclination angle of the swash plate. The hinge mechanism includes a projection disposed on one of the rotor or the swash plate and at least one arm disposed on the other of the rotor or the swash plate. The projection has a recessed structure and at least one arm is coupled to the projection to transmit torque from the driving shaft.

A compressor C has a construction comprising a cylinder block in which cylinder bores are formed, a front housing and a rear housing which are arranged at the front and at the rear, respectively, of the cylinder block . Pistons which are accommodated in each cylinder bore so as to be able to reciprocate, are connected to the cam plate , which connects to a drive shaft so as to be able to integrally rotate, so as to operate, and the pistons compress refrigerant gas according to the rotation of the drive shaft . A suction muffler , a discharge muffler and a control valve are provided between the cylinder bores in the cylinder block . Further, a unit which comprises a discharge check valve and an oil separator is disposed in the suction muffler

Compressor utilizing spaces between cylinder bores

A swash plate type compressor of variable capacity type including a rotary drive shaft, a swash plate angle adjusting device for adjusting the inclination angle between a minimum and a maximum angle, and wherein the_swash plate has a first center point at the maximum inclination angle and a second center point at the minimum inclination angle, each of the center points being an intersection between an intermediate plane of the swash plate which is intermediate in the thickness direction and a centerline of the swash plate, the two center points being located on the rotation axis, or the first center point being located on the rotation axis or offset therefrom on one side of the rotation axis corresponding to the compression-end circumferential part of the swash plate, while the second center point is offset a larger distance from the rotation axis than the first center point.

Swash plate type compressor of variable capacity type

A compressor includes a cylinder block having a cylinder bore. A valve plate assembly is located between the cylinder block and a rear housing. The valve plate assembly includes a plurality of plates. The rear housing is connected with the cylinder block through the valve plate assembly. A pair of pins engage all the plates to determine the position of the valve plate assembly relative to at least one of the cylinder block and the rear housing.

Valve plate assembly positioning structure for compressor

The present invention discloses a method for installing pistons in cylinder bores formed in a cylinder block of a compressor. The piston on one end of the cylinder block and a positioning jig on the other end of the cylinder block are arranged. The positioning jig is inserted into the cylinder bore such that part of the positioning jig protrudes from the cylinder bores toward the piston. The protruding part of the positioning jig is engaged with the piston to determine the position of the piston. The piston is inserted into the cylinder bore while maintaining the engagement between the jig and the piston. The positioning jig is removed from the cylinder bore. This facilitate automation of installation of pistons in cylinder bores.

A valve housing has a communication passage communicating a suction port of the compressor with a crank chamber of the compressor. A valve element opens and closes the communication passage, and a spring member resiliently biases the valve element toward the closed position. A pressure actuated unit moves the valve element toward the open position by a suction pressure of the compressor. The spring member includes a spring made of a temperature responsive material. The spring decreases in its resilient force in an opening direction of the valve element with increase of an outer-air temperature. The spring member has a primary spring made of an ordinary resilient material for resiliently biasing the valve element toward the closed position and a correction spring made of a material having a temperature positive characteristic. The correction spring provides a correction spring force smaller than a primary force of the primary spring in the opposite direction to the primary force. The combined spring force of the primary spring and the correction spring acting on the valve element.

Control valve for variable displacement compressor

A displacement control valve for a compressor is provided. When current to a coil is stopped due to, for example, a broken wire, the control valve prevents the load acting on a variable displacement compressor from becoming excessive. A suction chamber is connected to a crank chamber by a control passage. A bellows actuates a valve body in accordance with the pressure in a suction chamber thereby regulating the opening size of the control passage. The compressor displacement is varied accordingly. A solenoid varies the attraction between a plunger and a fixed core in accordance with the level of current supplied to a coil thereby changing a target pressure. The bellows is actuated based on the target pressure. The solenoid increases the target pressure as the current to the coil is decreased. When the current to the coil is stopped, the solenoid maximizes the target pressure.

Displacement control valve for variable displacement compressor

A variable displacement compressor the displacement of which is externally controlled is provided. The compressor has basically the same structure as prior art compressors except for simple differences. A pressure sensing chamber of a displacement control valve is connected to a suction chamber by an outlet passage. A bellows is located in the pressure sensing chamber. The bellows expands and contracts in accordance with the pressure in the sensing chamber. A valve chamber forms part of a displacement control passage, which is used to control the pressure of a crank chamber. A valve body is located in the valve chamber. The valve body is moved by the bellows to open and close the displacement control passage. Highly pressurized gas from the discharge chamber is supplied to the pressure sensing chamber through an inlet passage. The gas in the pressure sensing chamber is released to the suction chamber through the outlet passage. An electromagnetic valve is located in the outlet passage to regulate the flow of refrigerant gas from the sensing chamber. The outlet passage also includes a bypass passage. The bypass passage bypasses the electromagnetic valve and constantly communicates the pressure sensing chamber with the suction chamber.

Variable displacement compressor

A single headed piston type refrigerant compressor having a cylinder block forming therein a plurality of cylinder bores receiving a plurality of single-headed pistons for reciprocation therein, and a front housing joined to the cylinder block to define a crank chamber for receiving therein a cam plate. An extended bore-forming portion of the cylinder block having partial cylindrical guide surfaces each being continuous with the corresponding cylinder bore and capable of being in slide contact with the piston head portion of the single-headed piston and the outer circumference of a shoe-holding portion of the single-headed piston is formed by extending a peripheral portion of a front end of the cylinder block into the crank chamber. A projecting portion formed on each single head piston protrudes from a side end surface of the shoe-holding portion extending behind the piston head portion into the crank chamber. Therefore, the extended bore-forming portion can additionally be extended toward the crank chamber by a length corresponding to the distance of dislocation of the projecting portion into a space on the front side of the crank chamber to increase additionally the length of contact of the piston with cylinder bore.

Single-headed-piston type refrigerant compressor with means for preventing rotation of the piston about its own axis within the cylinder bore

A control valve varies the displacement of a variable displacement compressor. A pressure chamber is connected to a suction chamber through a fixed throttle and to a discharge chamber through an intake passage. The intake passage includes a fixed throttle and an electromagnetic valve. A controller controls the electromagnetic valve in accordance with data related to the running conditions of the vehicle. The control valve has a threshold value that changes in accordance with the opening and closing of the electromagnetic valve.

Control valve for variable displacement compressors and method for varying displacement

A variable displacement type refrigerant compressor including a compressor housing having internally a compressing mechanism for compressing a refrigerant, a displacement varying mechanism for adjustably varying an amount of the refrigerant compressed and discharged by the compressing mechanism, and a displacement control valve unit controlling the operation of the displacement varying mechanism, which is an assembly of a pressure sensing mechanism formed by a flanged bellows element, a valve element, a valve seat having a port cooperating with the valve element, and a valve rod engaging the pressure sensing mechanism with the valve element, and are assembled by using a fixing screw member and a jig tool in position in a pressure sensing chamber, a valve chamber, and a valve rod bore coaxially formed in the compressor housing by drilling or boring from two sides of the compressor housing. The flanged bellows element of the displacement control valve unit is fixed in the pressure sensing chamber via the flange thereof by being threadedly engaged in the pressure sensing chamber.

Variable displacement type refrigerant compressor

A compressor having a device for recovering lubricating oil. The compressor includes a discharge chamber and a muffler, which attenuates the pressure pulsation of refrigerant gas sent out from the discharge chamber. The muffler is defined by a muffler base, which is formed on the cylinder block, and a muffler cover, which is attached to the muffler base. The muffler includes a first muffler chamber and a second muffler chamber, which are connected by an opening. The muffler cover has a gas outlet for sending the refrigerant gas out of the compressor from the second muffler chamber. Lubricating oil separated from the refrigerant gas in the first muffler chamber is sent to the crank chamber through a recovery passage. The location of the gas outlet can be easily changed by replacing the muffler cover. Thus, the compressor can be easily adapted to different engine compartments.

Oil recovery device for compressors

A variable displacement compressor that decreases displacement to reduce compression load without imbalancing the rotation of the drive shaft when the rotating speed of the compressor's drive shaft exceeds a predetermined limit value. The compressor includes a pressurizing passage connecting a crank chamber to a discharge chamber. A rotated guide rotates integrally with the drive shaft. The pressurizing passage is opened and closed by a valve body. Orbiting balls, which contact the valve body, are arranged about the axis of the drive shaft and the rotated guide. The balls follow the rotation of the rotated guide and orbit about the axis. The orbiting radius of the balls varies. A spring urges the balls in a direction decreasing the orbiting radius of the balls. When the rotating speed of the drive shaft exceeds the limit value, centrifugal force moves the balls against the force of the spring and increases the orbiting diameter of the balls. This moves the valve body and increases the size of the pressurizing passage.
