A connector includes an insulator forming a conductor-portion placement surface and a pressing portion being retained by the insulator to project from the conductor-portion placement surface in a direction orthogonal to the conductor-portion placement surface and extending toward a predetermined first direction along the conductor-portion placement surface, the pressing portion being elastically deformable in the direction orthogonal to the conductor-portion placement surface, a conductor portion of an electric wire extending from the first direction along the conductor-portion placement surface being disposed between the conductor-portion placement surface and the pressing portion, a connection object being sandwiched between the pressing portion passed through an opening portion of the connection object extending from a second direction opposite to the first direction along the conductor-portion placement surface and the conductor portion of the electric wire.

Connector, connector assembly, and connecting method

Connector

A connector has terminals and a housing. The terminals are arranged in a pitch direction. The terminal has first and second mount portions, first and second contact portions and a supporting portion. The supporting portion extends from the first contact portion to support the second contact portion. The second contact portion faces the first contact portion in a width direction and is movable due to resilient deformation of the supporting portion. The second mount portion is formed on the supporting portion and apart from the first mount portion in the width direction. The first and the second mount portions protrude downward from a bottom surface of the housing. In a plane perpendicular to the pitch direction, the first and the mount portions and the first and the second contact portions of each of the terminals are identical with those of any other of the terminals, respectively.

A connector includes terminals, a holding portion made of insulating resin, and a housing. Each of the terminals has a surface mounting technology (SMT) portion, a spring portion, a contact point, and a connection portion. The SMT portion is soldered to an object. The holding portion is directly held by the housing. The housing has accommodation portions which accommodate the spring portions of the terminals, respectively, and a barrier wall which separates two of the accommodation portions which are adjacent to each other. The connector is configured to prevent occurrence of solder wicking up from the SMT portion when the SMT portion is soldered to the object.

A connector includes a connector terminal having a flat connection surface that faces a counter connector terminal, at least one spherical ball disposed on the connection surface, at least a surface of the ball having electrical conductivity, a ball retaining portion retaining the ball such that the ball is rotatable, a ball guiding portion fixed to the connector terminal and holding the ball retaining portion such that the ball retaining portion is movable in a two-dimensional manner along the connection surface, and a terminal spring pressing the counter connector terminal or the connection surface of the connector terminal in such a direction that the counter connector terminal and the connection surface approach each other.

Each of plug contacts and each of receptacle contacts come into electrical contact with each other by mating a plug connector and a receptacle connector. Each of the receptacle contacts includes a receptacle contact guide part that has a receptacle contact guide hole into which each plug contact can be inserted in a direction toward a receptacle side board, and two spring pieces that are elastically deformed when each plug contact is inserted into the receptacle contact guide hole. The two spring pieces come into contact with each plug contact inserted into the receptacle contact guide hole by a spring restoring force.

Connector assembly

A connector assembly comprises a first connector and a second connector. The first connector comprises a first insulator and a first metal member. The first metal member has a first metal plane. The second connector comprises a second insulator and a second metal member. The second insulator has at least one insulating plane. The second metal member has a second metal plane. The first metal plane, at least in part, faces each of the second metal plane and the at least one insulating plane in a first direction under a mated state where the first connector and the second connector are mated with each other. A distance from the first metal plane to the second metal plane in the first direction is shorter than a distance from the first metal plane to the at least one insulating plane in the first direction under the mated state.
