In various example embodiments, a system and method are provided for a service data platform. The service data platform includes an application management API configured to receive software uploaded by a third party using a management application API. The service data platform also includes a plurality of graph servers configured to identify a group of lighting nodes to distribute the uploaded software and determine the uploaded software is safe for deployment to the identified group of lighting nodes. The service data platform further includes a device manager configured to distribute, using an administrative API, the uploaded software to the identified group of lighting nodes.

Application environment for sensory networks

A device can receive parking metadata that includes location data indicating that a portion of a vehicle is located outside of a designated parking area (DPA). The device can process the parking metadata to identify values that are to be used when determining actions to perform. The device can obtain supplemental events data associated with events occurring near the DPA. The device can determine the actions to perform based on the parking metadata and the supplemental events data. The device can provide, as one of the actions and to one or more other devices or to the vehicle, a message indicating that the portion of the vehicle is located outside of the DPA. This can cause the one or more other devices or the vehicle to: move the vehicle from the DPA, reposition the vehicle within the DPA, or penalize an owner of the vehicle.

Systems and methods for probabilistic semantic sensing in a sensory network are disclosed. The system receives raw sensor data from a plurality of sensors and generates semantic data including sensed events. The system correlates the semantic data based on classifiers to generate aggregations of semantic data. Further, the system analyzes the aggregations of semantic data with a probabilistic engine to produce a corresponding plurality of derived events each of which includes a derived probability. The system generates a first derived event, including a first derived probability, that is generated based on a plurality of probabilities that respectively represent a confidence of an associated semantic datum to enable at least one application to perform a service based on the plurality of derived events.

Systems and methods for probabilistic semantic sensing in a sensory network

In various embodiments, a system and method for a light sensor network that provides an application framework for interactive applications are presented. The light sensor network includes a plurality of lighting nodes and a plurality of sensor controller nodes (SCNs) positioned within wireless communications range of one or more of the plurality of LNs. A LN within the light sensor network includes a communication interface having a first transceiver and a second transceiver. The first transceiver being configured to exchange communication signals to and from a service platform over a wide area network (WAN) via a lighting gateway node. The second transceiver being configured to receive beacon signals from a beacon transmitting device within a beacon communications range and further configured to transmit beacon signals to be received by a beacon-enabled device within the beacon communications range. Sensor data and beacon data are used by the interactive applications.

Application framework for interactive wireless sensor networks

A system may provision a smart device to allow the smart device to communicate using a network and use at least one service of a management platform. A device identifier of the smart device may be stored in a data store accessible to the management platform. The smart device may send a message to the management platform that includes the device identifier, and in some implementations other information such as location information. The management platform may determine that the smart device has been provisioned, for example based on the device identifier or other information, and provide a service to the smart device from the management platform.

A server device can periodically obtain information concerning illuminance of ambient light from light sensors associated with light sources, and can obtain respective brightness level values associated with respective brightness levels of the light sources. The server device can calculate an illuminance value associated with the illuminance of the ambient light based on the information, determine an adjusted brightness level value for the light sources based on the illuminance value, and determine transition times and transition rates based on the respective brightness level values and the adjusted brightness level value. The server device can cause the respective brightness levels to change according to the adjusted brightness level value, the transition times, and the transition rates, where the transition times and the transition rates are to be used to transition the respective brightness levels of the light sources from the respective brightness level values to the adjusted brightness level value.

In various example embodiments, a system and method for a light sensor network that provides an application framework for interactive applications that use location-based information are presented. In example embodiments, the light sensor network includes a plurality of lighting nodes and a plurality of sensor controller nodes (SCNs) positioned within a wireless communications range of one or more of the plurality of LNs. A LN within the light sensor network includes a communication interface having a first transceiver and a second transceiver. Application environment for lighting sensory networks

In one example, a method is provided for a lighting node within a lighting infrastructure to communicate data to other nodes within a lighting sensory network. The method includes receiving, at the lighting node, a first message from a server instructing the lighting node to enter into a sensor transmit mode associated with a first type of sensor data, the first message including transmission parameters for transmitting secure sensor messages associated with the first type of sensor data to the other nodes and a retransmit base interval associated with the first type of sensor data. The method includes obtaining, at the lighting node, the first type of sensor data and recording a timestamp associated with a time the first type of sensor data was obtained. The lighting node generates an encrypted sensor message including the obtained first type of sensor data and the recorded timestamp; and transmits the encrypted sensor message by broadcasting the encrypted sensor message to at least one other operating in an authorized listening mode.

Sensor nodes with multicast transmissions in lighting sensory network

In one example, a method of protecting customer data in a networked system comprises collecting sensor data available at sensor nodes within a sensor network in communication with a service data platform over a network. The method includes encrypting the sensor data using a certified public key associated with a customer key-pair, the sensor data representing the customer data associated with sensitive identification information. The sensor data is cryptographically signed with a device private key. The method includes transporting the encrypted sensor data to the service data platform for storage, and decrypting at the service data platform, the encrypted sensor data using a private key sharing scheme that reconstructs the private key associated with the customer key-pair using a first share and a password encrypted second share, the first share assigned to the service data platform and the password encrypted second share assigned to a customer of the customer key-pair.

Security and data privacy for lighting sensory networks

In various example embodiments, a system and method for interactive applications that use location-based information from a light sensor network are presented. In example embodiments, data indicating a destination location inside a geofence is received. The geofence represents a boundary around multiple private beacon nodes, which are associated with a light sensor network, and their associated beacon communications ranges. Navigation and tracking outside the geofence is based on at least one of global positioning system (GPS) signals and beacon signals received by the mobile device from at least one public beacon device within a beacon communications range of the mobile device located outside the geofence. Navigation and tracking inside the geofence is based on the beacon signals received by the mobile device from at least one private beacon node within the beacon communications range of the mobile device located inside the geofence and a virtual map including an area within the geofence.
