An absorbent disposable article, such as a diaper, panty diaper, panty liner, sanitary napkin or incontinence device is disclosed. The article has a porous polymer-based structure obtainable by a process of: (a) depositing and photopolymerizing, layer-by-layer in accordance with a predetermined 3D model, an emulsion having an external continuous phase surrounding droplets of an internal phase having has one or more photopolymerizable monomers and/or oligomers and a photopolymerization initiator; and (b) removing the internal phase from the continuous polymer phase formed from the one or more photopolymerizable monomers and/or oligomers. The process produces a monolithic porous structure having three types of pores: (i) pores resulting from the location from which the internal phase was removed, (ii) pores interconnecting the pores according to (i), and (iii) pores as predetermined by the 3D model. The invention also relates to a method of making the article.

Absorbent disposable article comprising a porous polymer-based structure

A folded absorbent article with an absorbent core having at least two core layers located between a topsheet and a backsheet is provided. The width of a transition between front and intermediate portions of the core is narrower than a width of the rest of the core. A first end portion of the article is folded about a fold line that coincides with or is adjacent the narrow portion of the core. A second end portion of the article is folded about a second and rear transversal fold line. The first end portion may be folded onto a central area and the second end portion may then be folded onto the first end portion, or the second end portion may be folded onto the central area and the first end portion may then be folded onto the second end portion.

Disposable absorbent products are stacked along a stacking axis. Each of a first plurality of folded disposable absorbent products is folded into at least two panels so as to define first and second ends and front and back oppositely-facing exterior faces of each of the first plurality of folded products, with the respective front faces of the first plurality of folded products facing a common, first direction. At least one folded disposable absorbent product is folded substantially in the same manner as the first plurality of folded products to thereby define first and second ends and front and back oppositely-facing exterior faces of that at least one folded product, with the front face of that at least one folded product facing a second direction opposite from the first direction.

A receptacle is provided for connecting an electronics enclosure to an absorbent article having at least one sensor element. The receptacle includes: a base frame having a base surface; an enclosure retainer for retaining the enclosure relative to the base surface at an engagement position; and at least one contact support surface, oriented toward the engagement position, arranged to be displaceable away from the engagement position relative to the base surface and biased to protrude from the base surface toward the engagement position. An absorbent article and method of manufacture thereof and an absorbent article management system using the receptacle are also provided.

An electronics enclosure has terminal conductors for contacting corresponding conductors in a receptacle when engaged with the receptacle. The electronics enclosure has a housing having first, second, third, fourth, fifth and sixth surface portions arranged to define the exterior of the housing. The receptacle engages and retains the corresponding electronics enclosure, the receptacle having terminal conductors for contacting corresponding conductors in the enclosure when engaged with the enclosure. The receptacle has a base surface along which the enclosure can translate in an engagement direction to engage the enclosure with the receptacle. An absorbent article management system includes: a diaper having the receptacle at which sensor elements of the diaper terminate; a logger unit having logger electronics enclosed in the enclosure and adapted to cooperate with the receptacle to connect the logger electronics to the sensor elements; and data processing equipment for processing data acquired from the sensor elements by the logger and for taking action based on the same.

An absorbent article, the absorbent article being a personal hygiene article, comprising a liquid permeable top sheet, a liquid impermeable back sheet, and an absorbent core enclosed between the top sheet and the back sheet, and a fluid flow control member arranged between the top sheet and the backsheet, said fluid flow control member being of a nonwoven material comprising a three dimensional network of fibres, said fibres having a thickness of 200-700 &#x3bc;m, said nonwoven material having a strain of max 50% at 5 kPa.

A method of securing a conductive thread in an absorbent article is disclosed. The method includes: passing a thread through a first surface of the absorbent article; and anchoring a first length of the thread on the first surface by applying adhesive at a position on the first length of the thread between a point at which the thread passes through the surface and a first end of the thread to cover at least a portion of the thread and a portion of the surface.

A male absorbent article includes a liquid impermeable pouch for housing the male genitals of a user. The pouch includes an opening for inserting the male genitals into the pouch. The absorbent article includes an absorbent body positioned in the absorbent article for fluid communication with the interior space of the pouch. An inner sheet structure comprises the opening for inserting the male genitals into the pouch and is tapered and positioned between and extending from first and second upper ends in a direction towards a lower end.

A pant&#x2014;includes front part, a back part and a crotch part, a waist portion and a pair of leg openings. The pant further includes a suspending member formed of elastic material and comprising zones of different elasticity. A first elastic zone having a relatively higher elongation is provided in a longitudinally extending central region of the crotch part, and a pair of second elastic zones having a relatively lower elongation extend along both sides of the first elastic zone at or close to the leg openings in the crotch part. The first and second elastic zones extend to the front part with the second elastic zones extending along both sides of the first zone.

An absorbent article is provided with closure means for securing the article about the waist of a wearer. The article may be worn in a belt type configuration or a slip type configuration. Belt means are provided which protrude laterally beyond the outer edges of a rear panel of the article. Fasteners on the front panel may be secured to the belt means in a slip type configuration. Releasable attachment means allow the belt to be extended in order for the belt ends to be fastened to each other about the waist of a wearer in a belt type configuration. The article may have a substantially constant or same size in both the slip or belt type configurations.

Multi-configurable absorbent article

An absorbent article includes an absorbent structure. The edge portions in the absorbent structure's middle portion have a first mean pore size, and the central portion in the middle portion of the absorbent structure has a second mean pore size, the first mean pore size being greater than the second mean pore size. The absorbent article can be folded along the longitudinal centre axis so that a part of the article on one side of the longitudinal centre line and a corresponding part of the article on the other side of the longitudinal centre line are brought together to lie against one another at a plane of the longitudinal centre line on the upper surface of the article. The edge portions which have the greater, first mean pore size thereby form an area of the absorbent article that is first wetted during use.

An absorbent article such as a nappy or an incontinence pad, with a liquid-permeable surface layer, a liquidtight surface layer, and a first absorbent body arranged between the surface layers and extending in longitudinal and transverse directions along the surface layers and also in a through-direction from the liquid-permeable surface layer towards the liquidtight surface layer. The first absorbent body has openings which extend in the through-direction. A second absorbent structure is arranged on that side of the first absorbent body facing away from the liquid-permeable surface layer. The liquid-permeable surface layer is attached to the second absorbent structure through the openings.

A method of producing an absorbent structure that includes hydrophilic fibres and particles of superabsorbent material, comprising forming an air-laid structure from fibres and superabsorbent particles. At least a part of the air-laid structure is moistened to a moisture content in the moistened region of at least 15% calculated on the total weight of the structure within the moistened region, whereafter the structure is dried to a moisture content of at most 12%. The moisture treatment improves the tensile strength of the absorbent structure. Liquid dispersion in the structure is also improved.
