An isolation plug including a support element having a first end, a second end, and an intermediate portion extending therebetween. At least one flexible wiper element is arranged at the first end. A frangible locator element is arranged at the first end spaced from the at least one flexible wiper element. A selectively deployable plug element is arranged at the second end.

A downhole tool has a setting cone including a body having an outer surface having a first end, a second end. At least a portion of the body includes a taper at the second end. A passage extends through the body. The passage includes a first portion having a first diameter and a second portion having a second diameter that is less than the first diameter. An anchor is arranged at the second end of the setting cone. The anchor includes a central passage that aligns with the passage through the setting cone. A mandrel extends through the passage of the setting cone and the central passage of the anchor. The mandrel includes a first end portion, a second end portion and an intermediate section. A conduit extends from the first end portion toward the second end portion. A portion of the conduit defines an actuation chamber.

Frac plug system having an integrated setting tool

A valve device selectively communicates annulus pressure or pressure from a hydraulic circuit to an actuation piston of a borehole tool to directly or indirectly set the borehole tool. A valve member is held against spring bias by a retainer whose physical properties can be remotely changed to release the force of the bias to move the valve member which in turn moves an actuating piston to set the borehole tool. The compressive strength of the material can be impacted by electric current that directly or indirectly such as with the generation of heat results in weakening the retainer. The retainer material may be surrounded with a sleeve to enhance compressive strength until the remote signal is applied such as with wireline or electric line. Other property changes to the retainer are contemplated such as volume change, shape change, change in state or change in tensile or compressive strength.

A downhole setting tool and method of using the setting tool, the setting tool including a firing head, an igniter, a housing connected to the firing head, a power charge positioned within a chamber of the housing, and a connector connecting a portion of the power charge to the firing head. The connector may be connected to the uphole end of the power charge. The connector may connect the power charge to an adapter that connects the power charge to the firing head. The connector may be a ring having an outer engagement feature that engages the adapter and an inner engagement feature that engages the power charge. The connector may be a collet including an outer engagement feature that engages the adapter and a plurality of fingers that engage the power charge. The ignitor is used to detonate the power charge to set a device within a wellbore.

Retaining and positioning end cap for downhole setting tool power charges

A downhole setting tool having a first housing, a second housing having a chamber connected to the first housing, a power charge positioned within the chamber, an igniter connected to a portion of the power charge, and an ignition device connected to the igniter. The ignition device is configured to actuate upon receipt of an electrical signal. The ignition device is configured to ignite the igniter. The ignition device may rapidly heat up or apply a voltage or current to the igniter. The igniter is configured to cause the detonation of the power charge to set a device within a wellbore. The igniter may be embedded into the power charge with the ignition device positioned within a cavity in the igniter. The igniter may be a pyrotechnic material or may release high energy heat upon application of voltage or current.

A system, method and apparatus for providing a fuel source in a wellbore is disclosed. A tool is placed into a wellbore. A primary charge is associated with the tool. A secondary charge associated with the tool is provided. The secondary charge includes a resilient solid propellant.

System and method for providing a resilient solid fuel source in a wellbore

A tool equalizes a packer or bridge plug before it can release the slips and sealing element of the packer or bridge plug with a reconfigurable grip tool. In one configuration the grip tool is latched only into the equalizing mechanism for the packer or bridge plug. Having equalized the pressure and while still latched to the equalization mechanism the tool is reconfigured with a force and locked into a second configuration. From that position the grip tool can latch and move the release mechanism for total release and retrieval to the surface. Release force undermines a ratchet lock for the slips to allow extension as the sealing element extends axially and radially retracts. If the slips fail to release with undermining of the ratchet lock then a set down force can be applied to re-engage the lower slip cone to push it from the lower slips for a release.

Packer or bridge plug with sequential equalization then release movements

The power charge of a wireline pressure setting assembly includes a barrier located adjacent an open upper end of the power charge. The barrier centralizes the power charge in horizontal applications to ensure the associated tool properly sets. The barrier also limits how much of the power charge can flow out of its housing in a horizontal application. The barrier can be porous or impervious to contain as much of the power charge in a small sub-chamber in the pressure chamber defined by the barrier. Once ignition starts in the power charge the barrier can be consumed or otherwise disabled for the normal functioning of the setting device to set a tool and release from the set tool in a normal manner.

Power charge retention and centralizing device for a wireline pressure setting assembly

A retrievable inflatable plug system features distinct seal and anchor elements where the seal element features overlapping ribs preferably metallic and preferably overlapping. The ribs extend the substantial length of the packer and are disposed under the annularly shaped sealing element. The anchor features exposed continuous ribs extending from opposed ends with one or more stiffener rings disposed on the exposed ribs. The elements can be inflated separately or together and include valving systems to allow deflation for selective removal of the plug to put a well back into service.
