A no purge sampler for collecting fluid samples includes a flexible tube having a sealed first end and a second end, the tube defining an interior cavity, a check valve disposed at the second end of the tube, and at least one aperture above the check valve. To collect fluid samples, the no purge sampler is lowered into the fluid to be sampled. The at least one aperture streamlines the tube as it is lowered into the fluid reducing drag-down and mixing. Once the sampler reaches the desired depth, the sampler is pulled upwards allowing fluid to enter the interior cavity. The sampler is then pulled out of the fluid without losing any of the fluid in the interior cavity of the tube or contaminating the sample with any extraneous fluid.

No purge sampler

A no purge sampler for collecting fluid samples includes a flexible tube having a sealed first end and a second end, the tube defining an interior cavity, a buoyancy-compensating ballast compartment secured to the tube, and a check valve disposed at the second end of the tube. To collect fluid samples, the no purge sampler is lowered into the fluid to be sampled. The buoyancy-compensating ballast compartment is filled with an appropriate ballast to allow the sampler to sink to a desired level. Once the sampler reaches the desired depth, the sampler is moved up and down to pump water into the collapsed tube. The check valve is opened each time the sampler is pulled upwards allowing fluid to enter the interior cavity. The up and down motion is repeated until the interior cavity of the tube is filled with fluid. Once the interior cavity is filled, the pressure of the fluid in the tube causes the check valve to close, thereby preventing additional fluid from entering the interior cavity. The sampler is then pulled out of the fluid without losing any of the fluid in the interior cavity of the tube or the sample contaminated with any extraneous fluid.

A universal well screen filter assembly for installation in a borehole formed in a fluid bearing formation to filter fluid passing therethrough. The screen filter includes an outer cylindrical perforated screen member and an inner cylindrical perforated screen member which is aligned concentrically with the outer screen member. The inner screen member has a smaller diameter than the outer screen member and positioned to define an annular filter space therebetween. This space is substantially filled with a filter medium which is designed to filter particulate materials from fluid passing through the medium. An upper end cap is secured to an upper end of each of the spaced apart screen members to seal the annular space therebetween and a lower end cap is secured to a lower end of each of the spaced apart screen members to also seal the annular space therebetween. A tubular member is aligned concentrically and extends through the screen filter. The tubular member is adapted for passage of fluid and includes perforations to allow fluid to pass through the screen filter and into the tubular member. The screen filter is also adapted for slidable removal and replacement over the tubular member.

Universal well screen filter

A sampling device is provided for driving into the ground to sample fluids at a desired depth without requiring the drilling of a well. The sampling device utilizes a universal drive point device which is removably coupled to a tubular point holder. The drive point device includes an outer surface which extends along a drive cone between a lower end and an upper end along a longitudinal axis. The outer surface tapers radially outwardly from the lower end and is adapted for penetrating the ground to form a borehole. A stub extends outwardly along the longitudinal axis from the upper end of the drive cone. The stub is configured for insertion within a bottom end of the tubular point holder. The stub includes an axially elongated circumferential groove. An elongated annular seal is seated within the circumferential groove. The annular seal is adapted for frictionally coupling and sealing against an inner diameter within the bottom end of the tubular point holder. The annular seal is highly compressible and expandable to accommodate tubular point holders of different inner diameters.

Universal drive point device

Described is a device for driving into the ground which includes a drive point, a fluid passage section, an annular seal and an annular drive rod. The annular seal is the widest member and fits snugly in a borehole formed after the device is driven into the ground to form a seal. Specially configured drive points are also described.

Drive point device

A system and method for implanting an underground device. The system includes a hollow body for containing said underground device and a drive cone adapted to penetrate the ground. The drive cone is removably attached to the hollow body so that once the system is driven into the ground to a desired depth, the hollow body may be pulled upward slightly to cause the drive cone to be removed. This permits underground fluids to enter the hollow body and the underground device. The system provides a durable and inexpensive method for sampling fluids from a desired depth without requiring the drilling of a well.

Apparatus and method for underground sampling

A device for retrieving a groundwater sample is provided. The device includes an elonagated hollow housing, a closure assembly mounted on the top end of the housing, and a drive cone removably mounted on the bottom end of the housing. The drive cone is adapted to penetrate the ground and is configured to be restrained by the ground once in place below the ground surface, so that frictional engagement between the drive cone and housing is overcome when the closure assembly and housing are withdrawn toward the surface. Such withdrawal of the closure assembly and housing leaves the drive cone in place, separated from the housing. A collection and containment unit is mounted within the hollow housing and closure assembly for collecting a groundwater sample after the drive cone has been separated from the housing.

Driven groundwater sampling device

A device and method are set forth to obtain a ground water sample. The device includes a drive cone adapted to penetrate the ground and a main body having a closed sample chamber. The main body is movable relative to the cone between the first position where the body and cone abut for inserting the device into the ground and a second position where the cone is frictionally restrained by the ground and the body is withdrawn upwardly relative to the cone to expose a sampling tube. The tube including a plurality of openings to receive ground water into the chamber. After receiving the sample, the device is retrieved from the ground.
