Systems, devices and methods described herein relate to endovascular devices for delivering sutures for securing grafts or other objects to patient vessels. In some embodiments, a suture includes a set of two legs having proximal ends joined to each other and elongate bodies that extend parallel to one another such that the set of two legs form a U-shaped structure. A suture delivery system can include a housing configured to contain a suture in a flattened configuration, and a deployment element having a ribbon-shaped distal portion disposed in the housing and including a set of formations, where the housing and the set of formations of the deployment element are configured to collectively constrain the suture in the flattened configuration until the suture is released through the opening of the housing.

Remote surgical suture system

A device is provided for preventing buckling of a flexible elongate member during insertion of the flexible elongate member. The device includes a support frame comprising a first end, a second end, and multiple pairs of support members. The support frame is configured to reversibly move from a collapsed configuration to an expanded configuration when the first and second ends are moved away from each other. The device also includes multiple open channels coupled to the multiple pairs of support members of the support frame. The multiple open channels are configured to allow the flexible elongate member to be top loaded into the multiple open channels. Also, the multiple open channels are maintained in an axial alignment as the support frame is moved between the expanded and collapsed configurations.

Anti-buckling mechanisms for catheters

The invention is directed to a guidewire having a distal section with multiple distally tapered core segments with at least two contiguous distally tapering core segments in which the most distal tapered core segment preferably has a greater degree of taper than the proximally contiguous tapered core segment. The invention is also directed to an elongated intracorporeal device, preferably a guidewire or section thereof, that has a core member or the like with a plurality of contiguous tapered segments having taper angles that are configured to produce a linear change in stiffness over a longitudinal section of the device. The device may also have a core section with a continuously changing taper angle to produce a curvilinear profile that preferably is configured to produce a linear change in stiffness of the core over a longitudinal section of the device.

Guidewire having linear change in stiffness

An embodiment has a plurality of radiopaque elements that may be intermittent, continuous or in the form of a helical ribbon for scaled measurement of intracorporeal structure under fluoroscopic imaging. Another embodiment has at least one layer of polymer over the distal end of the device.

Polymer coated guidewire

A guidewire or section thereof, that has a core member or the like with a plurality of contiguous tapered segments having taper angles that are configured to produce a linear change in stiffness over a longitudinal portion of the device. The device may also have a core section with a continuously changing taper angle to produce a curvilinear profile that is configured to produce a linear change in stiffness of the core over a longitudinal portion of the device. An embodiment has a plurality of radiopaque elements that may be intermittent, continuous or in the form of a helical ribbon for scaled measurement of intracorporeal structure under flouroscopic imaging. Polymer coated guide wire

A system for enabling the insertion and removal of an embolic protection device, for capturing and retaining embolic debris which may be created during the performance of a therapeutic interventional procedure in a stenosed or occluded region of a blood vessel. The system, in an embodiment thereof, enables the device to be snap-fitted so as to engage the distal end of a guide wire, to be pre-formed for expansion thereof so as to seal off the inner surface of a blood vessel, to inhibit the forming of a gap therein, for inhibiting embolic material from passing therethrough, and to be foreshortened to enable insertion thereof through confined spaces. The system, in another embodiment thereof, enables expandable material to be formed into an expandable configuration of an embolic protection device for capturing embolic material, which is capable of sealing off the inner surface of the blood vessel.

Embolic protection systems

A system used in a blood vessel when an interventional procedure is being performed in a stenosed or occluded region to capture any embolic material which may be created and released into the bloodstream during the procedure. The system includes an emboli-capturing filter which is capable of occluding a blood vessel distal to an interventional procedure site, passing the blood to enable blood to flow past the occlusion, and filtering the blood to capture and retain embolic material which may be released into the blood during a therapeutic interventional procedure. The emboli-capturing filter includes an expandable member which is capable of projecting from a guiding catheter so as to be deployed distal to the interventional procedure site to filter the blood. The expandable member is also capable of being retracted into the guiding catheter to capture and retain any released embolic material. The expandable member is further capable of being expanded distal to the area of treatment at the interventional procedure site for occluding the blood vessel. The expandable member may also include a plurality of openings for enabling blood to pass therethrough while preventing emboli from passing therethrough.

Embolic protection system and method including and embolic-capturing filter

A wound suturing assembly and method of use employing elastically precurved suture needles for piercing a patient's tissue to suture closed a wound. The needles are ejected out of the assembly and whereupon they assume a pre-curved shape and in the process curve back to pierce the tissue a second time prior to reentering the assembly. Each needle carries a length of suture through the wound so that the sutures can be tied and the wound tightly sealed.

Wound closure assembly and method of use

The invention is directed to a hand held vibration device which imparts reciprocating motion in a guidewire while leaving the guidewire free to rotate about its longitudinal axis, to facilitate advancement of the guidewire through a highly occluded blood vessel. The vibrating device is provided with a lock ring for reversibly preventing guidewire rotation without effecting guidewire reciprocation, and the reciprocation length of the device may be varied. The length the guidewire extends past the distal end of a delivery catheter may be varied from controls on the device which do not require guidewire detachment from the reciprocating mechanism. The device may be used with or without a delivery catheter provided with a curved distal end, the curvature of which can be varied while the catheter is inside the patient.
