A drug delivery platform is provided for delivering a controlled infusion of a drug to an individual. The drug delivery platform includes a reservoir for receiving the drug therein and a pressure source engageable with the reservoir. The pressure source is movable between a first configuration and a second configuration wherein the pressure source exerts a pressure on the reservoir to urge the drug therefrom. An output conduit is provided for transmitting the drug into the individual. An actuation mechanism is operatively connected to the pressure source and the output conduit. The actuation mechanism is movable between a non-actuated position and an actuated position wherein pressure source moves from the first configuration to the second configuration and wherein the input of the output conduit communicates with the drug and the output end of the output conduit is receivable in the individual.

Drug delivery platform utilizing hydrogel pumping mechanism

A drug delivery platform is provided for delivering a controlled infusion of a drug to an individual. The drug delivery platform includes a reservoir for receiving the drug therein and a hydrogel engageable with the reservoir. The hydrogel is movable between a first configuration and a second configuration wherein the hydrogel exerts a pressure on the reservoir to urge the drug therefrom in response to a predetermined stimulus. A flow guide distributes the predetermined stimulus over the hydrogel in response to activation by an individual.

A drug delivery device is provided. The drug delivery device includes a drug reservoir in fluid communication with a microneedle array. The drug delivery device has a sliding actuation mechanism that may be activated by a button or lever. Actuation of the drug delivery device inserts the microneedle array into the skin of a subject and causes a piston to compress the drug reservoir, thereby delivering the drug through the microneedle array to the subject.

A bladder arrangement is provided for a microneedle-based drug delivery device. The bladder arrangement includes a flexible membrane having an inner surface, an outer surface and an outer periphery. A bladder member, having a rigidity greater than the flexible membrane, includes an inner surface, an outer surface and an outer periphery. The inner surface of the flexible membrane and the inner surface of the bladder member define a chamber for receiving a drug therein. At least one microneedle is operatively connected to the bladder member. The at least one microneedle has an input and an output receivable within the individual. A valve operatively connects the input of the at least one microneedle and the chamber.

A medical pump includes a chassis having a fixed seat, and a main carriage having a carriage footing for receiving a fluid delivery device and restricting its movement. An actuator automatically moves the main carriage between open and closed positions to engage the fluid delivery device to the seat. The seat establishes the position of both the main carriage and fluid delivery device in the closed position. The actuator is connected to the main carriage by a rear carriage assembly having a manual release element for disengaging the actuator from rear carriage assembly and thereby from the main carriage. A processing unit detects jam conditions by processing carriage position data and electrical load data from the actuator.

An ergonomically designed food slicing machine including a rotatable blade for slicing bulk food product, a motor operably connected to the rotating blade, and a base portion located below the rotatable blade which defines a food slice receiving area. The machine may be provided with a sliced food receptacle operably connected to a scale, a visible indicia correlating to the distance between the gauge plate and rotatable blade, a blade sharpening assembly, a sled for securing the food product and an operator adjusted optimum stroke setting system for automatic operation of the slicing machine.

A pet waste collection device has a pair of opposing jaws movable between a closed jaw state and an open jaw state, and a liner bag may be situated about the jaws so that closure of the jaws about pet waste encases the waste within a bag. The jaws do not simply pivot into a closed state, and rather they travel toward each other in a path substantially parallel to the surface upon which the waste rests to close about the waste, and they then retract. Opposing shells which open and close about the jaws may strip the bag from the jaws when the jaws are closed about the waste.
