A display control unit displays, in a case where the display control unit is in a startup state or in an abnormal operation state of a general purpose application, a display window of a dedicated middleware even when a startup of the dedicated middleware is completed and a startup of a general purpose middleware is not completed. With this configuration, the user operation is allowed to perform operation to the general purpose application and is not required to wait until the startup of the general purpose middleware is completed. When the startup of the general purpose middleware is completed, a display window of the general purpose application which includes display window data transferred from the general purpose middleware is displayed. Thus, information related to the general purpose application can be promptly provided to a user.

An information providing apparatus in a vehicle coordinates with a first light emitter including light-emitting elements arranged in a linear form including at least one line on a compartment side of a door of the vehicle, and a second light emitter projecting light onto a projection target member in a forward visual field of a driver of the vehicle. The information providing apparatus repeatedly acquires status information including surroundings status indicating status of surroundings of the vehicle, and executes control to the first light emitter and second light emitter based on the status information. The control makes the first light emitter and second light emitter provide light emission in a light emission mode associated with acquired surroundings status indicated by the status information.

A text-reading device includes: a visual line direction detection device for a driver; a memory that stores the visual line direction when the driver looks at a display device; a gaze determination device that determines that the driver gazes the display device when a state that the detected visual line direction coincides with the stored visual line direction continues for predetermined time or longer; a voice conversion device that outputs text information of the display device as a voice signal based on an instruction; and a reading control device that inputs the instruction when the driver gazes the display device while the display device displays the text information, and the vehicle starts to move.

Text-reading device and text-reading method

A radio receiving apparatus for a vehicle includes a radio receiver, a control circuit, a storage device, a manual switch. The radio receiver receives a radio broadcast signal at a predetermined reception frequency. The control circuit records sound information contained in the received broadcast signal on the storage device and plays back the recorded sound information from a predetermined playback position. The manual switch is used to manually change the reception frequency. The control circuit automatically changes the reception frequency when a predetermined condition is met. The control circuit determines whether the reception frequency is changed manually or automatically. When the reception frequency is manually changed, the control circuit sets the playback position to a position corresponding to when the change of the reception frequency is completed.

Radio receiving apparatus for vehicle

A user selects as a guide route a route from among multiple routes retrieved under respective predetermined retrieval conditions. A retrieval condition under which the route selected by the user was retrieved is stored in an external memory. When a zone affecting driving is recognized along the guide route based on externally acquired information on traffic, a dynamic route that bypasses the zone affecting driving is retrieved according to the retrieval condition stored in the external memory. The retrieved dynamic route is then designated as a guide route.
