A member joining method includes the steps of forming an opening in an intermediate member composed of one part or at least two superposed parts, embedding an insert member formed of metal in the opening, placing a skin member formed of metal on an outer surface of the intermediate member such that the intermediate member is held on an inner side of the skin member, and joining the skin member to the insert member.

Manufacturing method for a side body structure of a vehicle and a side body structure of a vehicle

A first member has through holes. A linking member has a first holding portion and a second holding portion that hold an inner circumferential face and outer circumferential face of the first member; and engaging protrusions are formed on the first holding portion and second holding portion. The engaging protrusions are inserted into the through holes, and joined by joining portions formed thereupon. An attaching portion continues to the base edges of the first holding portion and second holding portion via a first supporting portion and a second supporting portion.

Member joining structure

A hemmed structure includes a first member and a second member. The first member is a sheet-like member including a thermoplastic resin and includes an inner bent portion formed at a position at which an end portion of the first member is bent. The second member is a sheet-like member a metal material and includes an outer bent portion formed at a position at which an end portion of the second member is bent. The outer bent portion is disposed so as to wrap around the inner bent portion, and the end portion of the second member is disposed inside the inner bent portion. A brittle portion is formed on an inner surface of the inner bent portion.

Hemmed structure and hemming method

There is provided a spot welding apparatus. The apparatus includes fixed and movable electrodes to hold and press a workpiece therebetween, and a sub pressure force applicator having a sub pressure unit that moves and selectively stops at a plurality of positions including a sub pressure position where the sub pressure unit is adjacent to the fixed electrode and in contact with the workpiece so as to apply a sub pressure, and a sub-pressure-non-requiring position where the sub pressure unit is located away from the workpiece. Spot welding is performed by applying current between the electrodes while holding the workpiece between the fixed electrode together with the sub pressure unit located in the sub pressure position and the movable electrode. Spot welding is also performed by applying current between the electrodes while holding the sub pressure unit in the sub-pressure-non-requiring position and holding the workpiece between the electrodes.

Spot welding apparatus

In an earth electrode apparatus, a cradle having first, second, and third shanks to which first, second, and third earth electrodes can be attached respectively is coupled to a shaft supported by a base. The cradle is coupled thereto in a tiltable manner. If the surface of a workpiece is irregular or inclined, the cradle tilts for balancing with the workpiece to ensure equal contact pressure for the contact of the first, second, and third earth electrodes with the workpiece, thereby offering stable contact irrespective of surface irregularity or inclination. Since a welding current is split to flow into the first, second, and third earth electrodes through respective points of contact thereof with the workpiece, it is possible to reduce current density at each of the points of contact and to avoid heat generation ascribable to conductive resistance at each of the points of contact.

Earth electrode apparatus

There is provided a pressure control method for a spot welding apparatus. Upon spot-welding a workpiece while applying a preset pressure to the workpiece by a pressure actuator through a movable electrode and a fixed electrode holding a workpiece and applying a preset sub-pressure by a sub-pressure actuator through a sub-pressure unit, the workpiece is pressed with an initial pressure by the movable electrode and the fixed electrode, and an initial sub-pressure is applied through the sub-pressure unit. After that, the setting pressure is applied to the workpiece by the pressure actuator through the movable electrode and the fixed electrode, and the setting sub-pressure is applied by the sub-pressure actuator through the sub-pressure unit.

Pressure control method for spot welding apparatus

When spot-welding a workpiece including a thin plate, a first thick plate, and a second thick plate, the workpiece is clamped by a fixed electrode in contact with the second thick plate, a movable electrode in contact with the thin plate, and control-pressure applying unit set adjacent to the movable electrode and in contact with the thin plate. Pressure is applied to the second thick plate by the fixed electrode, and pressure and control pressure are respectively applied by the movable electrode and the control-pressure applying unit to the thin plate. The pressure from the fixed electrode is controlled to be smaller than the pressure from the movable electrode. The current density between the thin plate and the first thick plate increases.

Spot-welding method and spot-welding device

In the electrode tip dressing apparatus, the upper surface and the lower surface of a dressing body is covered with an upper chip capturing case and a lower chip capturing case so that the chips generated when electrode tips are dressed by polishing or grinding are prevented from scattering to the outside, whereby a chip collection efficiency can be increased.
