The invention also relates to thermoplastic resins comprising a polymerized unit of the compound of formula (I).

Triarylmethane compounds

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer, which is capable of producing an oxymethylene copolymer having a high molecular weight with high yield and high economic efficiency. This problem is able to be solved by a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer, in which a copolymer starting material containing a trioxane and a comonomer is subjected to a polymerization reaction in the presence of a polymerization initiator that contains an acidic compound (A), and wherein: the copolymer starting material contains a basic compound (B); an acidic compound (C) that is different from the acidic compound (A) is added into the copolymer starting material before performing the polymerization reaction, thereby causing a reaction between the basic compound (B) and the acidic compound (C) in advance; and the polymerization reaction is carried out by means of melt polymerization.

The present application provides a polycarbonate resin composition which has a high refractive index and a low Abbe number, and high thermal stability. The polycarbonate resin composition according to one embodiment of the present application includes a polycarbonate resin and an antioxidant, wherein the polycarbonate resin contains a constituent unit represented by general formula (1) (in general formula (1), X represents an alkylene group having 1-4 carbon atoms, and a and b each independently represent an integer of 1-10), and the antioxidant content is 1-3000 ppm.

A polycarbonate resin having a high refractive index, a low Abbe number and a high moisture and heat resistance is provided. In an embodiment, a polycarbonate resin including a structural unit represented by general formula (1) below is provided. 

Provided are a polycarbonate having an appropriate refractive index and an appropriate Abbe number, and comprehensively excelling in heat resistance, total light transmittance, and hue, and a molded article thereof. The polycarbonate includes a constituent unit represented by Formula [I] and a constituent unit having a hydrocarbon group containing a cyclic structure. In Formula [I], Rand Reach independently denote a hydrocarbon group, and each Rindependently denotes a hydrogen atom, a heteroatom-containing group, a halogen atom-containing group, a linear alkyl group having from 1 to 6 carbon atoms, a branched alkyl group having from 3 to 6 carbon atoms, or a group including an aryl group and having from 6 to 12 carbon atoms.

The present invention relates to binaphthyl compounds of the formula (I), which are suitable as monomers for preparing polycarbonate resins having beneficial optical properties and which can be used for producing optical lenses: Formula (I) where X is C-C-alkandiyl or C-C-alkandiyl-C(O)&#x2014;, where C(O) is bound to the oxygen atom of the hydroxyl group and where C-C-alkandiyl or C-C-alkandiyl, respectively, are unsubstituted or carry a phenyl ring; R and R' are identical or different and selected from mono or polycyclic aryl having from 6 to 36 carbon atoms and mono- or polycyclic hetaryl having a total of 5 to 36 atoms, which are ring members, where 1, 2, 3 or 4 of these atoms are selected from nitrogen, sulfur and oxygen, while the remainder of these atoms are carbon atoms, where mono- or polycyclic aryl and mono- or polycyclic hetaryl are unsubstituted or carry 1 or 2 radicals R, which are selected from the group consisting of CN, CH, OCH, O-phenyl, O-naphthyl, S-phenyl, S-naphthyl, CI or F; and, if X is C-C-alkandiyl-C(O)&#x2014;, the esters thereof, in particular the C-C-alkylesters thereof. 

Binaphthyl compounds

The present invention provides a polycarbonate resin having a high refractive index, low Abbe number, and high moist heat resistance. The above problem, according to one embodiment, can be solved by a polycarbonate resin including structural units represented by general formula (1). 

The invention provides a method for producing an oxymethylene copolymer including a polymerization step for cationically polymerizing trioxane and a comonomer at a polymerization temperature of from 135 to 300&#xb0; C. in the presence of at least one salt of a protonic acid having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less, and at least one polymerization initiator selected from the group consisting of protonic acids having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less, protonic acid anhydrides having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less, and protonic acid ester compounds having a molecular weight of 1,000 or less; wherein the total concentration of metal components contained in the trioxane and comonomer used in the polymerization step is 300 ppb by mass or less.
