A method for producing a resin frame equipped membrane electrode assembly includes: a first conveyance step of supporting a sheet-shaped member having a cathode and an electrolyte membrane by a resin frame member to which the sheet-shaped member is joined and linearly conveying the supported sheet-shaped member to a pressure bonding device; a second conveyance step of conveying an anode to the pressure bonding device by way of a rotary table; and a pressure bonding step of heating and pressing the cathode and the anode from above and below by the pressure bonding device to thereby integrate the cathode and the anode together.

In a preparation process of a method for manufacturing a power generating cell stack, a stacking table provided with a vibratable stack guide portion projecting upward and a stack unit provided with a positioning portion guided by the stack guide portion are prepared. In the placing step, the stack unit is stacked on the stacking table by dropping the stack unit toward the stacking table while the positioning portion is stacked along the stack guide portion which is vibrated in the vertical direction.

A fuel cell stack includes a first metal separator and a second metal separator sandwiching a membrane electrode assembly. Bead seals are provided on the first and second metal separators. The bead seals protrude toward the membrane electrode assembly. A seal member is provided on a top part of each of the bead seals. In the process of producing the fuel cell stack, pressure medium is supplied to a coolant flow field formed between the first metal separator and the second metal separator. The supply pressure of the pressure medium is set to not less than the supply pressure of a coolant supplied to the coolant flow field during normal operation of the fuel cell stack.
