There is provided an electrode for a lithium secondary battery where particles, composed of an active material capable of occluding and releasing lithium, are arranged on a current collector, the active material particle being directly bonded to the surface of the current collector in a state where the bottom of the active material particle is imbedded in a concave portion formed on the surface of the current collector. A second particle layer may be provided on a first particle layer comprising the active material particles directly bonded to the surface of the current collector.

A sealed cell has: a cell outer can having a hollow body with a bottom and an opening; a spirally-wound electrode body accommodated in the above-mentioned cell outer can , including a positive electrode plate and a negative electrode plate wound with a separator ; a sealing lid having a sealing plate sealed to the above-mentioned opening of the cell outer can and an insulating member on a bottom of the above-mentioned sealing plate ; and a positive electrode current collector tab derived from a portion of an exposed core body of the positive electrode plate on an outermost periphery of the above-mentioned spirally-wound electrode body ; wherein the positive electrode current collector tab , the cell outer can and the sealing plate are welded with a tip of the above-mentioned positive electrode current collector tab being held between the above-mentioned sealing plate and an open rim of the above-mentioned cell outer can ; a spacer composing the above-mentioned insulating member has a concavity in a portion in which the above-mentioned positive electrode current collector tab is led in a direction of the opening of the above-mentioned cell outer can ; and the above-mentioned positive electrode current collector tab has a bent portion in the above-mentioned concavity . According to this construction, it is possible to provide a sealed cell which can prevent disconnection of a current collector tab inside the cell and improve reliability, even when shock such as a drop of the cell is applied to the cell.

Sealed cell

A thermostat comprises a first laminated metal plate and a second laminated metal plate in which a plurality of metal layers having different rates of expansion are laminated. The first laminated metal plate has a movable contact. The second laminated metal plate is disposed in such a position as to put the first laminated metal plate to the off and on positions. The first and second off temperatures, which put the movable contact in the off position by causing the first and second laminated metal plates to deform, and the first and second return temperatures, which return the movable contact from the off position to the on position, are set respectively at different temperatures.

Thermostat and battery pack containing the thermostat

A cell has an outer can made from either aluminum or an aluminum alloy, and a lead plate for current-utilization. The lead plate for current-utilization is welded to the outer surface of the outer can and further welded to a lead plate for connection which is connected with the protective circuit of the cell. This construction makes it possible to avoid directly connecting the outer can with the lead plate for connection. Consequently, the lead plate for connection can be resistance-welded, so that the protective circuit is prevented form being electrified. As a result, the reliability of the protective circuit is improved, as compared with the case where the lead plate for connection is laser-welded.

Cell which secures the reliability of a protective circuit

An alkaline storage battery including a bottomed cell casing assembled as either one of positive and negative terminals, a closure cap assembly coupled with an opening of the cell casing in a liquid-tight manner as the other terminal to hermetically seal the interior of the cell casing and a generator element composed of positive and negative electrodes assembled within the cell casing, wherein a current collecting plate extended from either one of the positive and negative electrodes is welded at least at two spaced portions thereof with a bottom surface of the closure cap assembly to enhance mechanical strength and the vibration resistance property of the storage battery and to reduce internal resistance of the storage battery.

Alkaline storage battery

A method of manufacturing an electrode for a battery comprises steps of preparing a substrate formed by a metal porous body having three-dimensionally continuous pores, a slurry mainly composed of active material powder to be filled into the pores of the substrate, a vessel for containing the slurry and a filling roller located to be at least partially dipped but not completely submerged in the slurry contained in the vessel, continuously supplying the substrate onto the filling roller so that the substrate is in contact with the filling roller in at least a point not being submerged in the slurry and rotating the filling roller in such a manner that the speed of outer peripheral surface of the filling roller facing the substrate is higher than the travel speed of the substrate thereby to fill the slurry into the pores of the substrate.
