An optical film comprises a transparent support and a polarizing layer. The polarizing layer selectively transmits polarized light, and selectively reflects or scatters other polarized light. The polarizing layer contains a compound represented by the formula (I) of Ar&#x2014;C&#x2261;C&#x2014;Ar&#x2014;C&#x2261;C&#x2014;Ar. In the formula (I), each of Arand Arindependently is a monovalent aromatic group, and Aris a divalent aromatic group.

There is disclosed novel color-developing agents of the formula (I). Color-developing agent, silver halide photographic light-sensitive

A silver halide color light-sensitive material is disclosed which contains a compound capable of reacting with an oxidation product of a developing agent to release a photographically useful group, preferably a development inhibitor. The coupling product of the compound is dissolved into a processing solution when subjected to development processing, and, therefore, forms no substantial color image. The light-sensitive material shows improvements in sharpness, graininess, color reproducibility, and storage stability.
