An electrified vehicle includes an electric motor configured to output power for traveling, an electric power storage device configured to supply electric power to the electric motor, and a control device configured to set an input limit as a maximum value of a charging current in charging the electric power storage device using electric power from an external power supply. The control device is configured to set a greater value as the input limit when a vehicle use ratio as a proportion of a use index indicating a degree of cumulative use of the vehicle to a prescribed maximum value of the use index is large than when the vehicle use ratio is small.

Electrified vehicle

In the present specification, degradation of a battery is suppressed in a hybrid vehicle having an EV mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs without using an engine and an HV mode in which the hybrid vehicle runs using both the engine and a motor. A controller of the hybrid vehicle is configured to limit a usage range of the battery in the EV mode with an execution request of the EV mode having been made by an information input from outside to the vehicle than in the EV mode with no execution request. The degradation of the battery is suppressed by limiting the usage range of the battery.

Hybrid vehicle

A hybrid vehicle for reducing a variation in accelerator position when an EV mode is switched to a HV mode is provided. A controller executes the following process during running in the EV mode. The controller sets an increase of the accelerator position from a first accelerator position to a switching accelerator position at which a switch to the HV mode is to be made as a first increase when an output of a motor has reached an output upper limit at the first accelerator position. The controller sets an increase of the accelerator position from a second accelerator position to the switching accelerator position as a second increase which is smaller than the first increase when the output of the motor has reached the output upper limit at the second accelerator position which is larger than the first accelerator position.

A PLG-ECU for external charging is provided separately from an HV-ECU for vehicle running, and configured to be capable of controlling external charging relays to be turned on/off. A sub DC/DC converter converting the output voltage of a charger into an auxiliary system voltage at the time of external charging is provided separately from a main DC/DC converter of large capacity used at the time of vehicle running. At the time of external charging, PLG-ECU can execute external charging without starting a vehicle running system while sub DC/DC converter can generate an auxiliary system voltage. Since external charging can be executed while system main relays each are kept turned off, a high voltage is not applied to components at the succeeding stage. Consequently, a main battery can be externally charged without exerting any influence on the durability and the life of each component of the vehicle running system.

An input/output controller for a secondary battery installed in a hybrid vehicle includes a temperature sensor detecting a battery temperature of a battery, a voltage sensor detecting battery voltage of battery, and a control unit for receiving temperature detected by temperature sensor and battery voltage detected by voltage sensor and setting a limit value of electric power to be inputted to or outputted from battery. Control unit changes a change ratio of the limit value to be inputted or outputted relative to battery voltage in accordance with temperature.

When a gear of a transmission for transmitting torque of a motor to a drive shaft is shifted while an accelerator is off or an accelerator pedal is slightly stepped on, an upper limit rotation speed is set using a fluctuation rate of a value smaller than a value when the gear is not shifted, a target rotation speed of an engine is set using this upper limit rotation speed, and control is carried out so that an engine is operated at the target rotation speed. By this arrangement, when the accelerator pedal is stepped on and a large torque demand is demanded, rise of the engine rotation speed is restricted, a portion used for raising the rotation speed in power outputted from the engine is made smaller, and a larger power can be outputted to the drive shaft.

In a drive system, where power from a motor is transmitted to a drive shaft and a transmission ratio is changed by a transmission, if the absolute value of the difference between the reference torque Tmr, which is the drive shaft side torque Tmr at the onset of a change in the shift speed of the transmission, and the driving shaft side torque Tmr during the change is less than the threshold value &#x3b1; until the end of the change (S), the application state of a brake in the transmission during the change and the state of the hydraulic pressure supplied to the brake are learned (S). During the change, and actuator of the transmission is controlled using those learned results. Accordingly, any deviations that may have occurred due to changes over time in the transmission, etc. are corrected and the shift speed of the transmission is changed more appropriately.

In the presence of a torque change request (step S) for changing a torque Tmof one motor MGto enable a smooth gearshift of a transmission interposed between a motor and a driveshaft, when the change of the torque Tmis unattainable within the range of an input limit Win and an output limit Wout of a battery (step S), the power output apparatus of the invention resets a torque command Tm* of the other motor MGto be within the input limit Win and the output limit Wout of the battery (steps Sand S). The power output apparatus also resets an engine power demand Pe* to make a rotation speed Ne of an engine approximately equal to a target rotation speed Ne* (steps Sand S). This arrangement ensures a smooth gearshift of the transmission.

In response to the driver's depression of a brake pedal in requirement of catalyst deterioration control with a catalyst deterioration control flag Fc set equal to 1, the braking control of the invention controls the operation of a motor to make a rotation speed Ne of an engine approach to a target rotation speed Ne* in a state of continued combustion (firing) of the engine (steps Sand S). Such control ensures a quick decrease of the rotation speed Ne of the engine to the target rotation speed Ne*, thus effectively reducing the wasteful fuel consumption due to the continued operation of the engine at a high rotation speed and enhancing the overall energy efficiency of the vehicle.

In response to an upshift of a gearshift position SP in a sequential gearshift range, the drive control of the invention once lowers the rotation speed Ne of an engine. This variation in rotation speed of the engine enables the driver to have adequate gear change feeling, which is similar to the familiar gear change feeling in a conventional motor vehicle equipped with a stepped automatic transmission. Namely the drive control of the invention effectively prevents the driver from feeling something is wrong.

The technique of the invention sets a relationship between the throttle opening (corresponding to the accelerator opening), the vehicle speed, and the target torque of a drive shaft, so as to enable a greater braking torque to be output in a working status of a cruise control system than a braking torque, which is output to the drive shaft in a full closed position of the accelerator opening in a non-working status of the cruise control system. This arrangement ensures output of a sufficient braking force to the drive shaft even under the condition of a relatively large drive load applied to the drive shaft, for example, during a downslope run, thus enabling the vehicle speed to be certainly kept at a preset level under the control of the cruise control system.
