A method includes measuring an occurrence frequency of elastic waves generated by cavitations in vascular tissues in vascular plant, before and after a change in water stress to the vascular plant, respectively by an elastic wave reception sensor fixed to an axis of the vascular plant, calculating a change rate of the occurrence frequency, from the occurrence frequency of the elastic wave measured before and after the change, respectively, and determining whether or not an embolism in the vascular tissue arrives at an unrecoverable level of the embolism, from the calculated change rate. And then, one can determine irrigation timing and quantity to the vascular plant, using an index based upon the above-determined result.

An electro-mechanical transducer contains a vibrating electrode (), a vibrating-electrode-insulating film () disposed at a bottom surface of the vibrating electrode (), an electret layer () facing to the vibrating electrode (), an electret-insulating layer () joined to a top surface of the electret layer (), and a back electrodein contact with a bottom surface of the electret layer (). A central line average roughness Ra of the vibrating electrode (), including a bending, is 1/10 or less of a gap width measured between the bottom surface of the vibrating electrode () and the top surface of the electret layer ().

A microphone-capsule includes a vibrator implemented by a conductor having a flat vibration surface, a dielectric-polarization plate that is defined by a flat first principal surface facing the vibration surface of the vibrating plate and a second principal surface facing parallel to the first principal surface and in which polarization directions are aligned, a back electrode joined to the second principal surface of the dielectric-polarization plate, and an induced-charge measuring unit configured to measure the charges induced between the vibrating plate and the back electrode, in association with the displacement of the vibration surface. The induced-charge measuring unit includes an amplifier connected to the back electrode and an output circuit connected to the amplifier.
