In the case where an automatic reading file composed of plural kinds of detailed parameters stored in a transportable storage device whose attachment is detected has been already read in an apparatus, it is determined whether update, to a currently-read automatic reading file, of an automatic reading file stored in a storage section is carried out or not in accordance with a user's instruction, and is controlled so as to carry out a process. Namely, in the case where an automatic reading file has not been read yet, the automatic reading file stored in the storage section is updated to the currently-read automatic reading file without any condition. On the other hand, if an automatic reading file has been already read, the automatic reading file stored in the storage section may be edited on the basis of it.

Tone signal creating apparatus and method

As a music equipment is connected to a music processing apparatus, necessary communication ports corresponding to the connected music equipment are automatically set in the processing apparatus. The thus-set communication ports are each assigned the name of the corresponding equipment so that the equipment and the communication ports can be associated with each other. Once the equipment is disconnected from the apparatus, the disconnected equipment is converted into a dummy state and displayed in a predetermined dummy display style. When a project file has been read which includes track data, identification information of a currently-set external equipment and parameters of the external equipment, the detected external equipment is associated with any one of external equipments which had been set for use at the time of storage of the project file. By transferring parameters, stored in a memory, to the external equipment that could be associated, parameter synchronization can be effected.

Music processing apparatus and management method therefor

A sound control apparatus is provided in a portable terminal for sounding a music tone in association with operation of the portable terminal, which is controlled by a main CPU. In the sound control apparatus, a memory memorizes music information representing a music tone and configuration information associated to a timbre of the music tone. An information acquiring section acquires the music information and the configuration information from the memory. A tone generating section is configured by the acquired configuration information to create a timbre specified by the configuration information. The tone generating section operates according to the acquired music information to generate the music tone being represented by the music information and having the specified timbre. A dedicated CPU is provided separately from the main CPU for controlling the memory, the information acquiring section and the tone generating section.

Various arpeggio patterns are provided for an automatic arpeggio performance in an electronic musical apparatus, in which arpeggio notes are sounded in various timbres and appropriate arpeggio types are selected for the respective timbres. For each of a plurality of timbres, plural available arpeggio types are prepared which are appropriate for the timbre, and are assigned to plural arpeggio type selecting buttons, respectively. According to the manipulation of an arpeggio type selecting button, the assigned type is selected and the arpeggio pattern data of the selected arpeggio type are outputted for the successive sounding of the notes as an arpeggio. The assignment of the arpeggio types to the selecting buttons are alterable by the user.

Apparatus and computer program for providing arpeggio patterns

A network system is constructed for operating a music apparatus having a function as an electronic musical instrument under control by a local terminal which is communicable with a host computer through a network. In the system, the host computer is installed with a capability utilized to compute data effective to extent the function of the electronic musical instrument. The local terminal is connectable to the host computer through the network to remotely control the capability of the host computer so as to compute the data prepared for the music apparatus. The local terminal downloads the computed data from the host computer into the music apparatus through the local terminal. The music apparatus operates according to the downloaded data to extend its own function as the electronic musical instrument. Further, the capability itself can be transferred from the host computer to the music apparatus through the local terminal.

Method of extending capability of music apparatus by networking

During reproduction of performance data in a particular performance style, an instruction can be given for shifting the reproduction to another performance style. In response to such a performance style shift instruction, the performance data of one or more of the performance parts of the currently-reproduced performance style is sequentially controlled, through a plurality of stepwise shift phases, to be replaced with the performance data of one or more of the performance parts of a designated shifted-to performance style. Thus, when the performance style is to be shifted during performance, the performance style shift can be effected in a smooth manner by gradually switching the performance data on a performance-part-by-performance-part basis.
