A passenger protection apparatus includes a detector, an adjuster, a controller, and a setting unit. The detector is configured to detect an environmental condition outside a vehicle; the adjuster is configured to be able to correct a sitting posture of a passenger to sit on a seat in a proper position; the controller is configured to control actuation of the adjuster; and the setting unit is configured to set a time frame divided into a plurality of frames until a predicted collision between an own vehicle and an object outside the vehicle, based on a result of detection by the detector. The controller controls the actuation of the adjuster to correct the sitting posture of the passenger in a correction frame at least contained in the time frame.

Passenger protection apparatus for vehicle

An occupant monitoring device for a vehicle in which an occupant sits on a seat provided in an occupant compartment includes an imaging device and a plurality of light projectors. The imaging device is configured to capture an image of a plurality of occupants sitting side-by-side in a vehicle width direction. The plurality of light projectors are provided in correspondence with a plurality of seat positions of the seat and are configured to project light toward the seated occupants.

A passenger protection apparatus includes an airbag and an inflator. The airbag is configured to hold a passenger sitting on a seat of a vehicle when the airbag deploys, and the inflator is configured to supply gas to expand the airbag. The airbag includes: a main bag configured to hold a head and an upper body of the passenger; sub bags configured to protrude to the passenger to deploy between the main bag and the passenger; and connectors configured to swingably couple the sub bags to the main bag at positions out of a center of the seat in a vehicle width direction, so that the sub bags can swing when a force is applied to the sub bags in the vehicle width direction.

Passenger protection apparatus

A safety apparatus for a vehicle includes a structure, an inflator, a collision position detector, and a deployment controller. The structure extends along an outer periphery of the vehicle, and includes a plurality of partial structures. The inflator is configured to supply gas into the structure. The collision position detector is configured to detect or predict a collision position the vehicle upon colliding against an object. The deployment controller is configured to control gas supply from the inflator to the structure, based on a collision position detected or predicted by the collision position detector. The deployment controller causes the inflator to supply the gas to a partial structure corresponding to the collision position to deform at least the corresponding partial structure outward in a vehicle width direction.
