A hole punch includes a base and a handle assembly to actuate a punch pin. The base may include a housing enclosing a punch head, and the housing may include an opening where the handle assembly is adapted to be recessed within the opening. The handle assembly may include a first linkage and a second linkage, each pivotally coupled to the base, and a third linkage pivotally coupled to both the first and second linkages, where the third linkage is arranged to move substantially parallel to the base. The first linkage may be substantially parallel to the second linkage when the punch pin is in a rest position, and the second linkage may be configured to nest within the first linkage when the punch pin is in a deployed position.

A binder for holding papers or other objects is described. The binder comprises a window which enables a user to identify the contents of the binder. The outer surface of the window may be substantially flush with the outer surface of the binder. At least one tab may be located behind the window which enables a user to load a label and holds the label such that it is viewable through the window.

A hole punch includes a base and a lever system to actuate a punch. The lever system includes a first lever having an end pivotally connected to the first end of the base and a second lever having an end pivotally connected to the second end of the base. Actuation of a free end of the second lever causes the first lever to move. In one embodiment, a lock is operatively coupled to the lever system and engages the first and second levers to hold the levers in a stowed position. In another embodiment, the hole punch includes a third lever having a first end operatively coupled to the first lever and a second end operatively coupled to the second lever.

A stapler includes a body and a strike plate movably mounted to the body between a rest position and a loaded position. The strike plate is adapted to drive a staple into a target object. The strike plate may be moved from the rest position to the loaded position by a loading mechanism against the bias of a power spring, whereupon the energy stored in the power spring is applied to the strike plate to drive the staple. A stapler may include a lockout which inhibits movement of the strike plate toward the loaded position unless a work piece is beneath the stapler body.

A binder mechanism includes a rotatable support having ring segments that can be locked in a closed configuration. The binder mechanism includes a horizontal and/or a flush mounted push button that opens and/or unlocks the rotatable support. The push button acts on a ramped slider that causes the rotatable support to rotate open. An over-center arrangement aids in maintaining the binder mechanism closed or opened.

A binder having molding thereon is provided. The binder may have two panels connected to one another by a hinge and a binding mechanism connected to one of the panels and designed to receive an article, such as one or more sheets of loose-leaf paper and other such articles. Molding may be located on the hinges to reinforce the hinge and may be less hard than the panel material. Molding may be located along the entire length of the hinge or in discrete sections spaced from one another along the hinge. Molding may also be located on edges of the cover panels, such as along the entire edge or at the corners between the edges. The material of the molding may be a different material than the material of the panels. To form the molding on or with the panels, techniques such as comolding or overmolding may be employed.
