A genre of media is presented for use with a reactor vessel and for the purpose of immobilizing small particles, often catalytic in nature. The media can include a number of ferromagnetic active wafers stacked together and separated by non-ferromagnetic separator portions, such that when in the presence of a magnetic field and magnetic-particle-containing fluid, at least some of the gaps between active wafers captures and suspends magnetic particles.

What is presented is an innovative design of a chemical reactor for catalytic breakdown of halogenated hydrocarbons, the body of which acts as a specialized electromagnet capable of immobilizing and retaining very large quantities of non-magnetized ferro-dia- or para-magnetic material-containing nano, micro-, or milli-particles within it's reactor volume despite high-velocity flow of any liquid through said reactor. This is accomplished without any pre-treatment to the nanoparticles, without the use of adhesive of any sort, electroplating, electrolytic action, nano-structured nanocages, membrane or other impregnation, or any other mechanical or chemical means.

A valve for use with an ultra high purity gas comprising a valve body defining a valve chamber having a valve outlet through which gas is discharged and containing a reciprocable sealing member, characterized in that the valve chamber is in fluid communication with a source of the gas and in that the sealing member is reciprocable along an axis substantially parallel to the direction of flow of gas discharged from the valve outlet and into and out of sealing contact with a sealing face located within the valve chamber and circumscribing the inlet end of a valve outlet pipe, the opposite, outlet end of which pipe forms the valve outlet. The valve has a low wetted area and is thus easy to purge, and the valve design both reduces wear and restricts it to a single component which is easily replaced when necessary.

Valve for use with high purity gas

A power chuck includes a body, a plurality of work engaging jaws, a plurality of rocker arms carrying the jaws, and plurality of swivel mountings connecting the rocker arms to the body. The power chuck also includes a plurality of slide members connected to and matingly engaging the rocker arms and reciprocable actuator disposed centrally of the rocker arms and operatively cooperating with the elide members. Reciprocatory movement of the actuator along the slide members rocks the rocker arms in the swivel mountings and moves the jaws radially relative to each other.

A power chuck includes a body, a plurality of work engaging jaws, a plurality of rocker arms carrying the jaws, and a plurality of swivel mountings connecting the rocker arms to the body. The power chuck also includes a plurality of slide members connected to and matingly engaging the rocker arms and a reciprocable actuator disposed centrally of the rocker arms and operatively cooperating with the slide members. Reciprocatory movement of the actuator along the slide members rocks the rocker arms in the swivel mountings and moves the jaws radially relative to each other.
