An apparatus for securing communications includes a processor and memory storing executable computer code causing the apparatus to at least perform operations including receiving a request to activate a service transferring communications of a cellular network to a wireless local network. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to provide an activation key to a device responsive to an indication that the device is authorized to utilize the service based on determining an identifier(s) of the request is valid. The computer program code may further cause the apparatus to provide a private key to the device, to enable the device to utilize the private key to subsequently register to transfer communications of the cellular network to a wireless local network(s), responsive to receiving a message for the private key from the device and a message from the cellular network. Corresponding methods and computer program products are also provided.

Methods, apparatuses and computer program products for securing communications

Systems, methods, apparatus, and computer program products are provided for re-routing calls from mobile stations. For example, in one embodiment, a call from a mobile station to a non-local number can be re-routed to a local number. The local number can then be used to communicate with a call server to deliver the re-routed call to the non-local number.

Re-routing calls from mobile stations

Various embodiments of systems, methods, devices, and computer software for establishing a cellular-to-VoIP call are provided. One embodiment is a method for establishing a VoIP media session between an originating cellular telephone and a VoIP destination device. One such method comprises: receiving a first data message from an originating cellular telephone, the first data message comprising an identifier associated with a VoIP destination device; sending a second data message to the originating cellular telephone, the second data message comprising information identifying a temporary directory number (TDN) associated with the VoIP destination device; detecting an incoming voice call to the TDN from the originating cellular telephone; sending an invite message to the identifier associated with the VoIP destination device; sending a ringing indication to the originating cellular telephone; receiving an accept reply from the VoIP destination device; and answering the incoming voice call from the cellular telephone and establishing a VoIP media session between the originating cellular telephone and the VoIP destination device.

Cellular-to-VoIP call establishment systems, methods, devices, and computer software

In a telecommunications network, a platform is provided to perform authorization, routing, gathering, and delivery of transmissions between multiple remote units and host locations. In a controlled environment, remote units are authorized to initiate transmissions to and receive transmissions from a limited number of locations. The platform stores profile information for remote units in a database, including services authorized for remote units based on timing events. The platform determines the appropriate destination for a transmission from a remote unit based on the profile information stored in the database and identifiers associated with the remote unit and telecommunications router serving the remote unit. The platform authorizes a transmission to the destination based on the profile information, determines a routing number associated with the destination, and transmits the routing number to an appropriate point in the network to enable completion of the transmission. The platform also determines whether a transmission from a remote unit triggers an event or includes content that may be stored and forwarded to a host destination. Additionally, the platform authorizes and routes transmissions from a host to a remote unit.

Method and system for authorization, routing, and delivery of transmissions

A system and method to transfer messages between signaling systems in different domains for wireless communication. In one aspect of the invention, a method for communicating between a switch servicing a roaming mobile phone in a domain different than a home switch to which the mobile phone is defined. A signaling gateway is used as an interface between the two domains. The method includes storing in the signaling gateway a mobile identification number (MIN) and the home switch point code that the mobile phone is defined to. When the mobile phone roams into another domain, the switch servicing the roaming mobile phone, the serve switch, identifies the mobile phone as belonging to another domain and sends a message to the signaling gateway. The signaling gateway stores this information and informs the home switch that all messages designated for the serve switch need to be sent to the signaling gateway. The signaling gateway may reformat the message prior to forwarding the message in the event the domains use different messaging protocols.

The data digits are translated into information on the mobile item (,) and stored at the platform (,) or the clearinghouse (,) for access by a host (,).

Data messaging in a communications network using a feature request

A system for enhanced call delivery to a roaming cellular subscriber, enabling said subscriber to receive calls placed to his MIN in his home system service area, utilizes a central telecommunications system processor capable of handling network applications, directly connected to a plurality of mobile telephone switches located in the service areas of a plurality of cellular telephone systems, each of said switches connected via a direct communication link to said central telecommunications system processor. A plurality of registers in said central telecommunications system processor are provided for storing data bases of system information, individual switch information, and subscriber information. The central telecommunications system processor is programmed to communicate with said switches, and to provide to the switches of the home and visited service areas of a roaming cellular subscriber: (1) making the identity of the current visited system switch of a roaming cellular subscriber known to his home system; (2) establishing financial responsibility of the roaming cellular subscriber; (3) establishing a valid roamer service profile in a visited system; and (4) setting up call delivery to a validated roaming cellular subscriber in the service area of a visited switch. The system further includes a general location register in said central telecommunications system processor containing a data base of all information necessary for validating and locating of known roamers, and a data base of routing information for location of home carriers, whereby end-to-end validation and registration is accomplished for previously unknown roamers. The system provides call delivery information to the home switch of a roamer, routing information for forwarding calls to said roamer; and a temporary directory number as needed for forwarding calls to said roamer over the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN).
