A dynamoelectric machine of the type having rolling element bearing assemblies larger than the commutator and armature and brushcard subassemblies for automated assembly with the brushcard having a displaceable brush retainer for retaining the brushes to form an unobstructed passageway for the bearing assembly and the armature having a self-positioning actuator disk for automatically displacing the brush retainer during assembly so the brushes engage the commutator.

Method of assembling dynamoelectric machine brush rigging

A method of assembling a motor to an object, a motor housing, and an electric motor are disclosed, each of which uses a hollow fastener to secure the motor housing to form an integral unit. Thru bolts are retained within the hollow fastener such that the thru bolts may thereafter be utilized to mount the motor to another object without requiring disassembly of the motor. Additionally disclosed are retainers for securing the thru bolts within the fastener during those time periods between motor assembly and assembly of the motor to an object to which it is to be mounted.

The tension of a windshield wiper is adjusted by turning a nut which adjusts the rotational tension of a spring on the arm. The positioning of the nut is fixed by a second nut, a spring also forces the arm into a detent, holding the arm away from the windshield.

Dynamoelectric machine brush rigging and method of assembly

A door lock system for a motor vehicle including a latching and locking means is disclosed. A cam means is driven about a pivot point by the engagement of gear projections with a slot in the cam means to effect locking and unlocking of the door lock. The cam means and the gear projections are separated once the door lock is in the locked or unlocked position to allow the door lock to be manually displaced without necessitating the rotational translation of the gear or the electric motor driving the gear.

A contact and terminal assembly having a block member, a conductor, and a securing member is disclosed. The block member and the securing member each define coacting curved surfaces between which the conductor is secured. The coacting curved surfaces define an appropriate angle for bending the conductor such that the conductor may serve on one end as a contact and at the other end as a terminal to which an electrical connection may be made. The block member, conductor, and securing member each include appropriate tabs and shoulders such that the three items may be appropriately interlocked to be affixed to each other.

A dynamoelectric machine including a brush holder having a displaceable section for positioning the brushes in a mounting position is disclosed. The displaceable section is located to secure the brushes in a mounting position and said displaceable section being separated during assembly to allow the brushes to be displaced inwardly to engage the commutator in the final assembled position. Several embodiments of displaceable sections are disclosed.

Displaceable brush holder for dynamoelectric machine assembly

A dynamoelectric machine including a brush holder for positioning the brushes in a mounting position is disclosed. The brush holder includes a displaceable section located to secure the brushes in a mounting position and said displaceable section being separated during assembly to allow the brushes to be displaced inwardly to engage the commutator in the final assembled position. Several embodiments of displaceable sections are disclosed.

Brush holder for dynamoelectric machines

A windshield wiper mechanism includes a motor driven gear and a drive plate positioned relative thereto but selectively rotatable to enable easy change of the effective wiper parts position. A park switch to automatically stops the arm and blade at a selected position on the windshield is located on the drive gear (driving rotatable member). Removal, rotation and reengagement of the drive plate relative to the motor driven gear then easily changes the wiper park position. The drive plate is provided with at least one opening located at a radial distance from the center rotating axis of the drive plate for receiving a pin of a connecting link that will provide oscillating motion to a shaft upon which a windshield wiper arm and blade is secured.

A dynamoelectric machine is provided with a frame structure consisting of at least two fabricated sheet metal pieces of identical shape and size. The sheet metal members are formed to provide cavities to accommodate an armature structure and bearings, and the opposed sheet metal pieces enclose and support the armature and bearing when fixed together. The sheet metal pieces also support preferably a ceramic magnet field by providing formed bosses and tabs for locating and holding the magnets in position. If additional low reluctance flux path is required, a tubular jacket may be placed over the sheet metal housing. The bearings are preferably spherical bearings, and the invention contemplates providing the sheet metal pieces with formed bearing retaining areas and having grooves to retain a fibrous lubricant containing material formed either in the retaining areas or the bearings or both. The brush holders are preferably resinous material molded to provide vanes on sides of the holders to push aside opposed tabs which then engage the vanes and hold the brush holder in place. Brushes fit through passages in the holders of conforming shape and size. An L-shaped terminal fits into a slot parallel to the passage and is latched in place with one leg overlying the opening and holding the end of a spring which engages and urges the brush into contact with the commutator, thereby providing electrical contact.
