A combine harvester includes (i) a grain tank for storing separated grain and having a bottom end and a top end, and (ii) a grain tank level sensor array for detecting a level of grain in the grain tank. The grain tank level sensor array includes a plurality of sensors, wherein the grain tank level sensor array extends between the bottom end and the top end of the grain tank. The sensors are spaced apart between the bottom end and the top end. A spacing between adjacent sensors decreases in a direction towards the top end of the grain tank.

A method for calibrating a height control system for an implement of an agricultural work vehicle can include providing an input signal to the height control system to adjust a height of the implement relative to the ground surface; monitoring the height of the implement relative to the ground surface; adjusting at least one gain of the height control system; and determining a maximum stability gain of the height control system based on the at least one gain and the monitored height. The maximum stability gain can correspond with a stability point of the height control system at which the height control system transitions from stable to unstable. The method can include setting gain(s) of the height control system based on the maximum stability gain.

In one aspect, a method for automatically controlling a height of an implement of an agricultural work vehicle relative to a ground surface may include monitoring the height of the implement relative to the ground surface; determining a proportional signal by comparing the height of the implement with a predetermined target height; detecting a local inclination of the ground surface; calculating a derivative signal based on the local inclination of the ground surface; and adjusting the height of the implement relative to the ground surface based on an output signal that includes the proportional signal and the derivative signal.

In one aspect, a method for automatically controlling a height of an implement of an agricultural work vehicle relative to a ground surface may include monitoring, with one or more computing devices, the height of the implement relative to the ground surface. The method may also include determining, with the one or more computing devices, an implement height error by comparing the height of the implement with a predetermined target height. The method may also include calculating, with the one or more computing devices, a proportional signal based on the implement height error raised to a power greater than one. The method may also include adjusting, with the one or more computing devices, the height of the implement relative to the ground surface based on the proportional signal.

A method for automatically controlling a height of a harvesting implement of an agricultural vehicle relative to a ground surface includes receiving height data from a plurality of height sensors spaced apart relative to the harvesting implement with a known spatial relationship and analyzing the height data in combination with position data associated with the known spatial relationship of the plurality of height sensors to establish a correlation between the height data and the position data. In addition, the method includes determining at least one control output for controlling an operation of a height cylinder and a tilt cylinder provided in operative association with the harvesting implement based on the established correlation, and controlling the operation of the height cylinder and/or the tilt cylinder based on the control output(s) to adjust the vertical positioning and/or the lateral tilt of the harvesting implement relative to the ground surface.

In one aspect, a method is disclosed for automatically controlling a position of an implement of an agricultural work vehicle relative to a ground surface. The method may include monitoring, with one or more computing devices, an implement position parameter indicative of the position of the implement relative to the ground surface. The method may also include calculating a normal output signal based on the implement position parameter. The method may also include determining when a boost condition is satisfied based on a comparison between the implement position parameter and a predetermined implement position parameter threshold. The method may also include computing a boost output signal based on the implement position parameter. The method may also include adjusting the position of the implement relative to the ground surface based on the normal output signal and the boost output signal.
