The disclosure relates to an Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity module that can add connectivity to an otherwise non-connected host and simplify procedures to connect, configure, and enable device-to-device (D2D) communication between the host and various heterogeneous IoT devices. For example, according to various aspects, the connectivity module may comprise a connectivity chip configured to implement a wireless network platform (e.g., a radio-frequency front end and one or more wireless radios), one or more standard peripheral interfaces configured to interconnect the connectivity module to a host having at least one processor, and a D2D application configured to implement a proximal D2D communication framework and expose a command protocol associated with the proximal D2D communication framework via the standard peripheral interfaces. Furthermore, according to various aspects, the connectivity module may comprise a dedicated interrupt line that may be asserted to notify the host when data becomes available to consume.

Apparatus and methods for licensing include executing a base application on a device, initiating a transaction with an application store to obtain access to a subordinate licensable item that is usable by the base application, receiving a transaction receipt corresponding to the transaction for the subordinate licensable item, and obtaining, from a license server, a subordinate license that corresponds to the subordinate licensable item. Additionally, the apparatus and methods may include storing a base license for a base application on a device, acquiring a subordinate license for a subordinate licensable item usable by the base application, receiving a request to execute the base application, enforcing, by a license agent service on the device, the base license with respect to executing the base application, and enforcing, by the base application, the subordinate license during execution of the base application.

Apparatus and method of in-application licensing

Various embodiments provide systems and methods for connecting wireless-enabled products to wireless networks. Customer network credentials may be stored in a server along with a customer identifier ('customer ID') during one-time registration. When a wireless-enabled product is purchased, a product identifier ('product ID') and the customer's ID are forwarded to the server, which correlates the two identifiers, linking the purchased product to the customer. When the wireless-enabled product is powered on, the product accesses the server via a public network connection, and sends the product ID and a security token to the server. The server uses the product ID and the security token to authenticate the product. Once authenticated, the server uses the correlated customer ID to look up the network credentials for the customer's private network, and provides the network credentials to the wireless-enabled product. The wireless-enabled product then uses the downloaded credentials to access the customer's private network.

Method and system for onboarding wireless-enabled products in a network

Methods and systems for the distributed bulk onboarding of devices onto a Wi-Fi network are provided. A method may comprise receiving, at an onboarding device, Wi-Fi configuration information. Then, it may comprise detecting, at the onboarding device, broadcast information from a plurality of devices that may be onboarded onto the Wi-Fi network, the broadcast information indicating that one or more of the plurality of devices is an onboarding node capable of onboarding another of the plurality of devices. The method may further comprise creating instructions indicating an order in which the plurality of devices may be onboarded, and by which of the one or more onboarding nodes each of the remaining devices of the plurality shall be onboarded, and providing the Wi-Fi configuration information and at least a portion of the instructions to at least one of the onboarding nodes.

Distributed bulk onboarding process

A method and system for remotely calibrating a headset telephone with a reliable, accurate and easy to use user interface is provided. This method makes use of the remote programmability of advanced telephone headsets and DTMF signal encoding and permits the customer-user to instigate the calibration procedure with an ordinary telephone call. The invention provides a way for the optimum settings to be transmitted, loaded and stored to the headset, thereby improving the audio quality of telephone headsets by providing adjustment steps for such audio qualities as microphone gain, speaker gain, background noise and echo cancellation, filter functions and diagnostics.

Method and system for remote telephone calibration

A method and system for remotely calibrating a headset telephone with a reliable, accurate and easy to use user interface is provided. This method makes use of the remote programmability of advanced telephone headsets and DTMF signal encoding and permits the customer-user to instigate the calibration procedure with an ordinary telephone call. The invention provides the means by which the optimum settings can be transmitted to the headset, loaded and stored in the headset, thereby improving the audio quality of telephone headsets by providing adjustment steps for such audio qualities as microphone gain (transmit level), speaker gain, background noise and echo cancellation, filter functions and diagnostics. This method also provides audio feedback to a customer service representative performing the calibration to insure that the commands and adjustments were properly received. It also incorporates a remote override and storage process, as well as a security gateway to ensure that only authorized changes are made in the programming of the headset. This invention contemplates the audio problems inherent in advanced telephone headsets and provides a user-friendly, reliable and programmable solution.
