This invention is directed to an extruded product, extrudable compound, and an extrusion method using a polymer, a cellulosic fiber, and at least one lubricant selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated esters of hydantoins, ethoxylated esters of sorbitol or sorbitan, or N, N'-bisalkanoylethylenediamines containing from 8 to 14 carbons of the alkanoyl group and compositions manufactured through such processes which simulate conventional wood products. The N,N&#x2032;-bisalkanoylethylenediamines are new compositions of matter containing from 8 to 14 carbons of the alkanoyl group having a particle size range from about 90 to 150 &#x3bc;m, preferably from about 120 to 140 &#x3bc;m.

Cellulose fiber-plastic composition containing a lubricant

The invention relates to a polymer-cellulosic fiber composition comprising a polymer, a cellulosic fiber, and a quaternary ammonium alkyl salt wherein the latter imparts antimicrobial properties to the composition and functions as a lubricant during the formation of the composition. The quaternary ammonium alkyl salts may be alkyl carboxylate, alkyl sulfate, alkyl sulphonate, alkyl phosphate, or alkyl phosphite. Certain of the salts are new compositions of matter. The method of extruding and the extrudate are also claimed.

Antimicrobial lubricant for wood fiber-plastic composites

This invention is directed to an extrudable compound, an extrusion method using a polymer, a cellulosic fiber, and at least one lubricant selected from the group consisting of ethoxylated esters of hydantoins, ethoxylated esters of sorbitol and sorbitan, and ethylene bisamides made from fatty acids containing 6&#x2013;10 carbons and composites manufactured through such processes which simulate conventional wood products. Another embodiment of the invention is directed to a composition containing polymer, a cellulosic fiber from an agricultural waste product and a lubricant containing a mixture of an alkylene bisamide derived from a C&#x2013;Cis fatty acid and an alkaline earth salt of a fatty acid.

Non-wood fiber plastic composites

The present invention is a method for producing solid halogenated hydantoin products using the process of melt extrusion. The form of the products which can be produced includes tablets, briquettes, pucks, dispensers, 'designer' forms such as Christmas ornaments, pellets, and granules. The halogenated hydantoin compounds used in the forms contain methylethylhydantoin or an admixture of methylethylhydantoin and dimethylhydantoin. The halogenated hydantoin compositions used to make the forms can also include additives such as solubility modifiers, compaction aids, fillers, surfactants, dyes, fragrances, dispersants, lubricants, mold releases, detergent builders, corrosion inhibitors, chelants, stabilizers, biocides, bromide sources, or oxidizing halogen compositions. The present invention is also the product which is made via the melt extrusion method. The invention also is a method of obtaining an improved feedstock via melt extrusion and the improved feedstock product. This improved feedstock product can be used for making forms by compaction.
