Biocontainers, as well as methods and platforms for rocking the biocontainers, are disclosed.

Rockable biocontainer

The present invention relates to a flexible, closed container with a bottom wall, a top wall and four side walls of a substantial rectangular configuration and made of a flexible plastic sheet material, said container comprising at least a first port, said bottom, top and side walls being provided by four separate sheets which are joined together at their edges, wherein a first sheet forms said bottom wall, a second sheet forms said top wall and a third and a fourth sheet form a first and a second side wall at two opposite sides of the container, said four sheets each comprising in addition to the portions forming the bottom, top and first and second side walls integrally formed triangular or trapezoid shaped wall portions at opposite ends thereof, said triangular or trapezoid shaped wall portions form when joined together a third and a fourth side wall, respectively, wherein said bottom wall accommodates said first port in an off-center position. The inventive container requires minimal operator attention during set up and filling.

Biocontainer

A filter assembly comprises a filter () defining path for fluid passing to or from the filter (). An adaptor () is connected to the filter () and provides a continuation of the path. The adaptor () is for mounting the filter () on a mounting plate () and carries one or more sealing rings () that are engageable with the mounting plate (). The adaptor () is made from a plastics material and one surface of the adaptor () is reinforced by contact with an annular reinforcing member () which may be of metal, particularly steel. This allows the flow path provided by the adaptor () to be maximized.

Filter assemblies

A filter assembly may include a valve which includes a valve member. The valve member moves between a first position and a second position and the valve is opened and closed.

Filter assemblies with valves

A porous filter medium is formed by a pleated cylinder of a depth filter medium. An absolute rated inner filtration layer is arranged between upstream and downstream drainage layers. The depth filter medium is formed from a continuous sleeve. Additionally or alternatively at least the downstream drainage layer may be formed integrally with at least a part of an inner filtration layer. The material of the medium may be a fibrous mass of non-woven synthetic polymeric micro-fibres which are free of fibre-to-fibre bonding and are secured to each other by mechanical entanglement or intertwining, with the diameter of the fibrous structure varying across the medium.

Depth filter media

A porous filter medium is formed by a pleated cylinder of a depth filter medium. An absolute rated inner filtration layer is arranged between upstream and downstream drainage layers. The depth filter medium is formed from a continuous sleeve. Additionally or alternatively at least the downstream drainage layer may be formed integrally with at least a part of an inner filtration layer.
