A HVAC air treatment (HAT) system/method for use in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that incorporates an air flow sensor (AFS), timer control unit (TCU), ultraviolet lamp(s) (UVL), lamp feedback indicator (LFI), liquid distribution atomizer (LDA), leak exhaust fan (LEF), and digital control processor (DCP) is disclosed. The AFS indicates detection of air flow within the HVAC ducts (HVD) to the DCP and may wirelessly communicate with the DCP. The DCP interrogates the TCU to determine when HAT is to occur if HVD air flow is detected and activates the UVL to disinfect air within the HVD. The LFI provides feedback to the DCP to verify that the UVL is operational. The UVL may be positioned at the fresh air intake (FAI), air intake plenum (AIP), evaporator/heat exchanger (HEX), and/or air exhaust plenum (AEP) and may incorporate an adjustable magnetic frame (AMF) allowing UVL retrofit installation.

A failsafe hydrocarbon-based gas (HBG) leak detection (HLD) and mitigation (HLM) system/method for use in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems that incorporates a hydrocarbon gas sensor (HGS), sensor signal conditioner (SSC), alarm status indicator (ASI), and digital control processor (DCP) is disclosed. The HGS detects ambient hydrocarbon gas (AHG) and presents a hydrocarbon sensor voltage (HSV) to the SSC. The DCP and SSC form a closed control loop (CCL) in which the SSC electrical characteristics are adjusted by the DCP such that the HSV is continuously and dynamically recalibrated to account for background HBG levels, changes in ambient air conditions, HGS manufacturing tolerances, and other field-specific operational conditions that impact the HGS detection capabilities. The DCP is configured to log alarms to the ASI if a HGS HBG leak is detected and optionally shutdown gas flow to one or more HBG target (HBT) system components.

Failsafe gas leak detection and mitigation system and method

A laryngeal nerve exciting system includes a collar holding a bridge, or a neckband, pressing soft tissue nerve exciters against a patient's neck providing a source of vibrations to stimulate the laryngeal nerve through the larynx. At least one exciter, and preferably two exciters, provide vibrations at preferably 70 Hz to 110 Hz and sufficiently strong to penetrate to the laryngeal nerve. The exciters may be held by the collar circling the neck, or by the neck band partially circling the neck. The therapy system includes a Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) and software which wirelessly connects, monitors, and triggers the device. The system may be used to treat dysphagia, chronic cough, and spasmodic dysphonia.

A refrigerant metering system/method incorporating a manual expansion valve (MEV), condenser isolation valve (CIV), flow isolation valve (FIV), and evaporator isolation valve (EIV) is disclosed. The MEV is configured to replace a conventional automated expansion valve (AEV) that controls a refrigerant flow valve (RFV) that is positioned in a heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) system between a refrigerant condenser coil (RCC) and a refrigerant evaporator coil (REC) and permits manual metering of refrigerant by the RFV from the RCC to the REC and also allows complete shutoff of refrigerant flow by the RFV from the RCC to the REC. The MEV allows rapid HVAC repair and restoration of service where a replacement AEV is not readily available. The CIV/FIV/EIV are positioned in the refrigerant flow lines to permit the AEV and/or REC to be isolated from HVAC refrigerant flow for repairs to the AEV and/or REC.

The DCP and SSC form a closed control loop (CCL) in which the SSC electrical characteristics are adjusted by the DCP such that the RSV is continuously and dynamically recalibrated to account for background refrigerant gas levels, changes in ambient air conditions, RGS manufacturing tolerances, and other field-specific operational conditions that impact the RGS detection capabilities. The DCP is configured to log alarms to the ASI if a RGS refrigerant leak is detected and optionally shutdown one or more HVAC system components such as a specific air handler leaking refrigerant.

The spine and front cover each includes a rectangular picture frame, the outer edges of which are aligned with and welded to the bottom and side edges of the spine and cover. A clear plastic membrane is secured to the frame's interior covering the opening in the picture frame. The frame top edges are spaced inwardly and free of the shell to form insert pockets. Display inserts are slidably mounted within the insert pockets defined by the frames. The spine insert includes an upper folded edge, and includes an outer pin head. Pulling upwardly on the pin head withdraws the insert. Mount-mats of a semi-solid paper are provided in the pockets to receive thin, flexible paper for insertion into the frame pockets. The inserted mat holds the display material with the insert pocket. The frame may be of thin flexible opaque plastic sheet material less than 0.020 inch thick.
