A governor system assembly and related method for assembling the same. The assembly may include a governor gear, a weight, and a locking pin pivotably coupling the weight to the governor gear along a pivot axis. The locking pin includes a locking segment rotatable into engagement with the gear about the pivot axis for securing the pin to the gear. In one assembly, the locking pin is rotatable between an unlocked position in which the locking pin is axially removable from the gear and a locked position in which a locking pin is not axially removable when the locking segment engages the gear. The locking pin may be L-shaped in some assemblies.

Apparatus and method for pre-cycle warm-up via wireless communication

A seal () has a first surface capable of contacting a valve cover () over a first fluid while a second surface, opposed to the first surface, is capable of contacting a seal seat (). The seal () also has a third surface capable of contacting a sensor () disposed in a second fluid, while a fourth surface, opposed to the third surface, is capable of contacting the seal seat (). The seal () is capable of separating the first fluid from the second fluid while preventing the first fluid and the second fluid from leaking out of the valve cover ().

A valve lifter guide () includes a base () and at least one conduit () extending from the base (). The conduit () has a first inwardly curved surface () opposed to a second inwardly curved surface () such that the conduit is capable of holding a valve lifter () between the first inwardly curved surface () and the second inwardly curved surface ().

A valve includes a valve body () disposable within a chamber () of a housing () and capable of being fluidly sealed with respect to the housing () when the valve is closed. At least one radial passage () is disposed in the valve body (). At least one axial passage () is disposed in the valve body () in fluid communication with the at least one radial passage (). When the valve at least partially opens, a fluid path opens between the valve body () and the housing (), which fluid path () in is fluid communication with the at least one radial passage (), and fluid from within the housing () is capable of passing out of the at least one axial passage ().

A cooling system of an outboard motor provides back and forth flow of water from one side of an exhaust passage to the opposite side in order to avoid the creation of stagnant pools of water within which minerals and debris can collect. This result is accomplished by causing the cooling water to flow back and forth from one side of the exhaust passage to the other so that all portions of the water passages are forced to conduct water through them at a relatively high velocity. A water reservoir is formed between an exhaust conduit and an oil reservoir in order to reduce the operating temperature of the oil within the reservoir.

Cooling system for an outboard motor

An exhaust system for a marine engine provides a flow directing component that reacts to changes in engine speed to select an appropriate and advantageous direction of fluid flow through the flow directing component. At speeds below a first threshold speed magnitude, such as an idle speed, exhaust gases pass from a first exhaust passage, through the flow directing component, and out of the marine propulsion device through an above-water exhaust conduit. When the engine is operating at speeds above a second threshold speed magnitude, the flow directing component operates according to Venturi principles to lower the pressure at its first end and draw ambient air through the second exhaust passage into the first exhaust passage.

An apparatus for of reliably separating the male and female members of a coupling that may be used in high pressure conditions. A release collar () has an actuator (), a release sleeve flange (), and a ring (). The actuator () is thinner than those utilized in known release sleeves, and may be advantageously located in closer proximity to the male member () than to the female member (), such that the actuator may radially expand between the male and female members. The actuator () may be comprised of a cylindrical annulus and/or fingers disposed in a circular pattern. The ring () may have a lip () that allows the release collar () to remain with the female member ().

An actuator rail assembly for conveying an actuating fluid under pressure to at least one fuel injector includes an elongate fluid passageway () being defined in a rail (). A fluid inlet port () is in fluid communication with the fluid passageway (), the inlet port being fluidly couplable to a source of actuating fluid under pressure. A respective fluid outlet port is associated with each respective fuel injector and being fluidly couplable thereto for conveying actuating fluid to the respective fuel injector and at least one fluid cavity () having at least one throttling orifice (), the orifice effecting fluid communication between the fluid cavity () and the fluid passageway (). An acoustic wave attenuator and a method of attenuation are also included.

An actuator rail assembly for conveying an actuating fluid under pressure to at least one fuel injector, include an elongate fluid passageway being defined in a rail. A fluid inlet port is in fluid communication with the fluid passageway, the inlet port being fluidly couplable to a source of actuating fluid under pressure. A respective fluid outlet port is associated with each respective fuel injector and being fluidly couplable thereto for conveying actuating fluid to the respective fuel injector; and at least one fluid cavity having at least one throttling orifice, the orifice effecting fluid communication between the fluid cavity and the fluid passageway. An acoustic wave attenuator and a method of attenuation are also included.

A wire guide () is disposable on a device such as a fuel injector (). The wire guide () includes a channel () having one or more intermittently spaced fingers () along an open side of the channel (). The fingers () may allow wires () to enter the channel () easily, but inhibit the ability of the wires () to leave the channel () once they enter. The channel () comprises an inner wall () that at least partially follows an outer contour of a device such as a fuel injector (). One or more retaining members () are included with the wire guide (), such that the wire guide () is securable to the device, such as a fuel injector ().

Wire guide

A fuel injector is operably couplable to a cylinder head, a clamping mechanism being in operable engagement with the fuel injector and the cylinder head for exerting a clamping force tending to hold the fuel injector in engagement with the cylinder head and includes a retainer assembly for retaining the fuel injector in operable coupling with a cylinder head, the retainer acting in cooperation with the clamping mechanism. The retainer assembly has a split dowel, the split dowel being statically engagable with the cylinder head by a clamping action of the clamping mechanism acting on the fuel injector and being engagable with a spring component for imparting a bias to the spring component. The spring component is in operable engagement with the fuel injector for imparting a reactive force to the fuel injector responsive to the bias imparted by the split dowel. And further including a friction coupling, the friction coupling fluidly coupling the split dowel and the fuel injector for generating a frictional force between the split dowel and the fuel injector, the frictional force tending to resist motion of the fuel injector relative to the cylinder head. A retainer assembly as indicated above and a method of resisting relative motion between a fuel injector and a cylinder head are further included.
