An autoinjector apparatus is disclosed which comprises a single-use cassette and an autoinjector. The cassette comprises a housing and a sleeve movably disposed in the housing. A syringe may be disposed in the sleeve and secured therein with a lock cap. The lock cap is affixed to a distal end of the sleeve and contacts the distal end of the syringe. A shield remover extends through an opening in a proximal end of the housing for removing a needle shield which covers a needle of the syringe. A cassette identification arrangement is provided on a surface of the housing to enable the autoinjector to identify the cassette. The autoinjector is provided with a detector for reading the cassette identification arrangement.

The present invention comprises an apparatus and method for transporting print media with wet ink out of a printer without smearing the ink or requiring the user to adjust the margins of the document to avoid the smearing of the ink. The apparatus comprises a platen for holding the print media prior to ejection from the printer, an ejection bar having flexible, resilient fingers for catching the bottom of the print media when flexed and then kicking the paper out of the printer. The ejection bar is actuated by an eccentric cam drive to move it away from the print media when the fingers are traveling toward the bottom edge of the print media, then moving it toward the paper bottom edge to flex the fingers and then upward to eject the paper out of the printer. The upward movement also causes the fingers to spring to an unflexed configuration, thereby kicking the paper out of the printer.

Apparatus for transporting wet print media and method for same

The present invention comprises an apparatus for feeding print media, such as paper, into a printer. The paper is stored in a stack in a movable paper tray. The tray is lifted so that the top sheet of paper is brought in contact with the feed roller. The feed roller feeds the top sheet into position for printing. The tray is then backed away from the sheet which is being fed thereby minimizing the resistance on the page being fed. A unitary motor controls both the motion of the feed rollers and the movement of the paper tray. A spring serves to bias the paper tray toward the feed rollers. Thus the present invention serves to eliminate the necessity for two separate motors and prevents the feeding of the paper until after the paper tray is properly positioned.

Automatic printing media feed apparatus

A predetermined window height at least three times the height of the normal printed characters can be printed in a single horizontal sweep of the printhead across the page. A page of character oriented data is first sorted vertically; the data is then sequentially processed into a 'print window' of horizontally sorted characters until a character is reached that will not fit within the current print window. The symbolic data in the print window is converted into bit mapped image data only slightly in advance of the current printhead position. The average throughout is increased by permitting the velocity of the printhead to vary as a function of the complexity of the image formation process. For a thermal process, this is accompanied by an appropriate adjustment in the current passing through the activated printhead electrodes. The vertical positioning of the pixels within the print window is varied to better distribute head wear.
