The present disclosure relates to a cooling tower. The cooling tower includes a fill media, a water distribution system to distribute water to the fill media, a basin to collect the water, and a shield disposed within the tower.

The present disclosure relates to a cooling tower having a fill media, water distribution system, plenum, and an ultraviolet (UV) light emitter. The water distribution system distributes water to the fill media. A flow of air passes through the fill media and past a flow of the water and out of the cooling tower via an outlet. The plenum is defined by a volume between the fill media and the outlet. The UV light emitter is disposed in the plenum and configured to inactivate or kill organisms in a drift.

A cooling tower having an evaporative media along with a liquid distribution system that distributes hot liquid over the evaporative media. The cooling tower includes a pair of heat exchanger modules that each have a first set of passageways in fluid communication with a first flow duct and a second set of passageways in fluid communication with a second flow duct. The heat exchanger module transfers heat from a first air stream into a second air stream. The cooling tower further includes a first bypass flow path that extends between the first heat exchanger module and the second heat exchanger module whereby a bypass door regulates airflow there through.

A sheet for use in a heat exchange apparatus. The sheet includes a first vertical rib that extends generally parallel to the vertical axis of the heat exchange apparatus. The sheet also includes a second vertical rib that extends, substantially all the way between the first and second edges of the sheet generally parallel to the first vertical rib. The sheet further includes a first horizontal rib that extends substantially all the way between the third and fourth edges of the sheet. The sheet additionally includes a second horizontal rib that extends substantially all the way between the third and fourth edges of the sheet generally parallel to the first horizontal rib.

Air-to-air atmospheric exchanger

A sheet for use in a heat exchange apparatus. The sheet includes a first vertical rib that extends in a first direction and protrudes in a second direction out of the plane. The sheet also includes a second vertical rib that extends in the first direction along the sheet, between the first and second edges of the sheet. The second vertical rib also protrudes in the second direction out of the plane. The sheet further includes a first horizontal rib that extends in a third direction along the sheet between the third and fourth edges of the sheet, and protrudes in a fourth direction opposite said second direction. The sheet additionally includes a second horizontal rib that extends in the third direction along the sheet between the third and fourth edges of the sheet. The second horizontal rib protrudes in a fourth direction and intersects said second vertical rib.

A fill pack assembly and method for assembling a fill pack from individual sheets utilizes integrally bonded sheet pairs. Each sheet pair is a pair of two individual adjacent fill sheets which have been bonded together via any suitable bonding method. A plurality of the thus formed sheet pairs can then be attached together to form an entire fill pack or portion of a fill pack. Such fill packs are useful in heat exchange devices such as industrial cooling towers.

Film fill pack

A heat exchange apparatus for a cooling tower having first and second corrugated film, fill sheets. Each film fill sheet includes a plurality of arch shaped dimple features oriented to forms various rows of the arch shaped dimple features. The first and second sheet are connected wherein the spacing between the sheets is equal to approximately 1.0 inches.

Cooling tower film fill apparatus and method

A fire resistant industrial water cooling tower (20) is disclosed having normally closed passive vent structure (28) which vents the interior of the tower (20) above the area which is undergoing combustion to enhance suppression of the fire. The vent area is dependent upon the location and extent of the fire. The vent structure (28) comprises means presenting a series of vent openings which are closed by a component (88) that responds to flames and/or hot products of combustion to move out of blocking relationship to the opening thus venting the interior of the tower. In preferred embodiments, the vent includes a panel member (82) having a series of openings (83) therein which are either covered or blocked by a synthetic resin member (88) formed of a material which will burn and has a relatively low melt temperature thereby causing the material to either burn or rapidly melt when subjected to flames and/or hot products of combustion resulting from a fire in a part of the tower. The fire resistance of an industrial water cooling tower may be further enhanced by the utilization of fill assembly racks (52) made up of individual fill packs (50) that upon burning to a predetermined extent may fall away from the remaining packs of the stack to prevent lateral spread of the fire to the remainder of the fill assembly.
