In a vehicle-to-vehicle wireless communication system utilizing certificates to verify trustworthiness of received communications, a method for distributing a list of certificate revocations to vehicles in the communication system. At least one main station transmits a list of certificate revocations to at least one vehicle and the vehicle thereafter transmits the list of certificate revocations to other vehicles in the communication network. Each of the other vehicles in the communication network updates its list of certificate revocations in response to the receipt of the list of certificate revocations from another vehicle in the system. The other vehicles thereafter transmit their updated list of certificate revocations to other vehicles in the system.

Method for distributing a list of certificate revocations in a vanet

Packets having at least one cell are switched using input queues, output queues, a switch fabric, and a controller. Each input queue stores cells to be switched, and each output queue stores switched cells. The switch fabric couples the input queues to the output queues and has memory. The switch fabric stores cells moved from the input queues to the switch fabric and stores cells based on the output queues. The controller couples to the input queues and the switch fabric and determines input priorities for cells moving from the input queues to the switch fabric and output priorities for cells moving from the switch fabric to the output queues.

A charge transfer device for a plug-in electric vehicle (PEV) includes a charging cable system that supplies electric power to the PEV. The charging cable system having a first end connected to a first electrical connector that connects to the PEV for a charging operation and a second, opposite end connected to a second electrical connector for connecting to a power outlet. A meter unit is located between the first and second ends of the charging cable system. The meter unit determines electrical power information for use during the charging operation. A communications unit is located between the first and second ends of the charging cable system. The communications unit communicates the electrical power information to a remote server.

Charge transfer devices for plug-in electric vehicles

A battery optimization system and method for regulating and discharging a battery so as to optimize the use of the battery in accordance with the user's preference is provided. The battery optimization system includes a power source, a charging/discharging station connecting the battery with the power source, and a controller in communication with the charging/discharging station. The battery optimization system further includes an input operable to provide the user's preferences. The controller is also in communication with the battery and is operable to process battery and power source information along with user input to calculate an optimal charging/discharging cycle. The charging/discharging cycle is configured to charge or discharge the battery so as to optimize the use of the battery based upon the end user's preference. For instance, the calculated optimal charging/discharging cycle may be based upon the user's desire to maximize the life of the battery, or to charge the battery as inexpensively as possible.

System and method for optimizing use of a battery

In a vehicle-to-vehicle communication network utilizing PKI security methods to protect communications and in which the PKI encryption utilizes a Certificate Authority having both a private key and a publicly distributed key, a method for allocating multiple certificates for each vehicle which are assigned to each vehicle in the communication network. The method includes the step of assigning a unique secret key k to each vehicle in the communication network. The Certificate Authority then creates a plurality of public key and private key encryption pairs for each vehicle and each encryption pair is associated with an index i. A plurality of certificates are then created with one certificate for each value of the index. A revocation list comprising the secret keys is maintained by the Certificate Authority so that all encryption pairs assigned to a particular vehicle may be revoked by the secret key k corresponding to that vehicle.

Method for allocating multiple authentication certificates to vehicles in a vehicle-to-vehicle communication network

A computing platform for multiple intelligent transportation systems in an automotive vehicle having a plurality of sensors which generate output signals representative of various vehicle operating parameters. The platform includes a vehicle data center which receives input signals from the vehicle sensors and the vehicle data center is configured to transform these input signals into output signals having a predetermined format for each of the vehicle operating parameters. A central processing unit receives the output signal from the vehicle data and is programmed to process the vehicle data center output signals for each of the intelligent transportation systems and generate the appropriate output signals as a result of such processing.

A system and method of vehicular wireless communication over a Dedicated Short Range Communication service band is provided. The system includes a vehicle having a navigation means, a processor, and a communication means for transmitting a message via a wireless communications link. The system includes a control channel for communication a safety communication and a service channel for communicating a non-safety communication. The control channel is subdivided into a contention-free period having a safety exchange interval of time for transmitting a safety communication and a contention period having a non-safety service interval of time for transmitting a non-safety communication. The system further includes an access point in communication with the vehicle via the communications link within region. The method includes the steps of determining if the vehicle is within communications range of the region, determining if the vehicle is registered with the access point, and if the vehicle is within the communications range of access point, determining if a current time is within the safety exchange interval, and transmitting the safety communication by each registered vehicle during the safety exchange interval at the predetermined time for each registered vehicle. The method further includes the steps of determining if the safety communication exchange by every registered vehicle is completed, and permitting the vehicle to leave the control channel if the safety communication exchange is complete, and determining if a current time is within a contention period, and transmitting the non-safety communication if the current time is within the contention period.

System and method of vehicular wireless communication

A system and method of vehicular wireless communication over a Dedicated Short Range Communication service band is provided. The system includes a vehicle having a navigation means, a processor, and a communication means for transmitting a message via a wireless communications link. The system includes a control channel for communicating a safety message and a service channel for communicating a non-safety message. A method for exchanging messages containing reliable information between nodes in an ad hoc network, such as a vehicle ad hoc network. The method includes the steps of providing a public key for a PKI encrypted certificate authority signature to all nodes known to transmit reliable information. Each node transmits a signal containing node identification information and the PKI encrypted certificate authority signature associated with that node. Each node also receives like signals from other nodes and then decrypts the certificate authority signatures from the received signals by using the certificate authority public key to ascertain the authenticity of the received certificate authority signatures and the reliability of the received message. Thereafter, the nodes receive and accept messages with a TESLA encrypted signature only with nodes identified to have authentic certificate authority signatures until the occurrence of a subsequent predefined event, such as a new node in the network or the elapse of a predetermined time period.

System and method for subscription-based content distribution to vehicles via wireless communication

An echo canceller circuit for use in an echo canceller system is set forth that provides sensitive non-linear echo path response detection. The echo canceller circuit comprises a first digital filter having non-adaptive tap coefficients to simulate an echo response occurring during a call. A second digital filter having adaptive tap coefficients to simulate an echo response occurring during the call is also used. The adaptive tap coefficients of the second digital filter are updated over the duration of the call. A coefficient transfer controller is disposed in the echo canceller circuit to transfer the adaptive tap coefficients of the second digital filter to replace the tap coefficients of the first digital filter when a set of one or more transfer conditions is met. A non-linear echo path response detector is provided. The non-linear echo path detector is responsive to one or more parameters of the first and second digital filters to detect a non-linear echo path condition. In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, the non-linear echo path detector is responsive to a transfer density value corresponding to a number of transfers executed by the coefficient transfer controller. In accordance with a further embodiment of the present invention, the non-linear echo path detector is responsive to a coefficient time dispersion characteristic of the second digital filter for detecting a non-linear echo path condition.

Echo canceller employing dual-H architecture having improved non-linear echo path detection

An echo canceller circuit is set forth. The echo canceller circuit includes a digital filter having adaptive tap coefficients to simulate an echo response occurring during a call. The adaptive tap coefficients are updated during the call using a Means Squares process. A tap energy detector is also employed. The tap energy detector identifies and divides groups of taps having high energy from groups of taps having low energy. The high energy tap groups are smaller in number than the low energy tap groups. The high energy tap groups are adapted separately from the low energy tap groups using the Least Squares process. Still further, the high energy tap groups may be adapted using an adaptive gain constant &#x3b1; while the low energy tap groups are adapted using an adaptive gain constant &#x3b1;', wherein &#x3b1;&#x3e;&#x3b1;&#x2032;.

Echo canceller employing dual-H architecture having split adaptive gain settings

An echo canceller circuit for use in an echo canceller system is set forth that provides sensitive double-talk detection. The echo canceller circuit comprises a second digital filter having adaptive tap coefficients to simulate an echo response occurring during the call. The adaptive tap coefficients of the second digital filter are updated over the duration of the call using a Least Mean Squares process having an adaptive gain a. A channel condition detector is used to detect channel conditions during the call. The channel condition detector is responsive to detected channel conditions for changing the adaptive gain a during the call. For example, the channel condition detector may detect the presence of a double-talk condition and set the adaptive gain a to zero. Similarly, the channel condition detector may detect the occurrence of a high background noise condition and set the adaptive gain a to a level less than 1 that is dependent on the detected level of the background noise. Other similar channel conditions and corresponding adaptive gain settings may likewise be utilized.
