A wireless communications device may include an RF transceiver. The RF transceiver may have a first connector, an RF transceiver circuit coupled to the first connector, and a probe circuit coupled to the first connector and configured to place a DC supply voltage on the first connector. The wireless communications device may include an RF antenna assembly to be coupled with the RF transceiver. The RF antenna assembly may have a second connector configured to be mated with the first connector, an RF antenna element coupled to the second connector, and an antenna ID circuit coupled to the second connector and configured to be powered from the DC supply voltage and modulate the DC supply current indicative of an ID of the RF antenna element. The probe circuit may be configured to determine the ID of the RF antenna element based upon the modulated DC supply current.

Wireless communications device with antenna element ID and related devices and methods

LMR and LTE transceivers are disposed within a portable radio housing. The LTE transceiver is configured to utilize two separate antennas. An embedded antenna disposed within the portable radio housing is coupled to the LTE transceiver. An RF signal routing network provided in the portable radio housing is coupled to the LMR transceiver, the LTE transceiver, and an external antenna. A control system controls the RF signal routing network to selectively connect at least one the LMR transceiver or the LTE transceiver to the external antenna in accordance with at least one operating condition.

Hybrid LMR transceiver with LTE and dynamic antenna control

A communications device includes a first radio () configured to support wireless communications with a second radio () using a plurality of communications modes. The device includes a switch element () configured to cause the first radio to transmit when actuated. The device also includes a control element () for detecting one or more actuations of the switch element and configured to select a one of the plurality of communications modes based on a sequence of the actuations of the switch element detected by the control element during a pre-defined time interval and to cause a wireless transmission from the first radio to the second radio according to the one of the plurality of communications modes.

Multi-mode communications system

A communications device () includes a frequency divider circuit () having a plurality of frequency division ratios. The device also includes at least one phase-lock loop (PLL) circuit () coupled to at least a signal input of the frequency divider circuit. The PLL circuit includes a local oscillator (LO) circuit () including a plurality of voltage controlled oscillators (VCOs) having different frequency tuning ranges. The device further includes at least one control input () coupled to at least the frequency divider circuit and the PLL circuit for specifying one of the plurality of VCOs and one of the plurality of frequency division ratios of the frequency divider circuit.

Wide spectrum radio transmit architecture

Transmitter () designed to automatically reconfigure one or more circuit parameters associated with an RF power amplifier () in response to certain user input commands. Specifically, a transmitter circuit configuration is automatically modified under certain conditions to produce a higher RF output power. The higher RF power output is possible because the transmitter configuration is adjusted specifically for use under a particular set of operating conditions. The operating conditions that trigger the higher powered configuration include burst transmission mode.

Multiband radio with transmitter output power optimization

An RF switch () that is activated by the insertion of a connector. The RF switch () can comprise one or more antenna adapters that can be formed by a number of predetermined RF connector types. The RF switch can include a switch housing (). A first, second, and third coaxial RF connectors () can be mounted to the switch housing (). The first, second, and third coaxial RF connectors () can individually have both an inner and outer conductor (---, respectively). An actuator () can be movable from a first position to a second position responsive to a mechanical force applied to the third coaxial connector (). A switch element () can be responsive to the actuator (). When in the first position, the switch element () can exclusively form a conductive path between the first and second coaxial RF connectors (). When the actuator () is in the second position, the switch element () can exclusively form a conductive path between the first and third coaxial RF connectors ().

Connector activated RF switch

A temperature sensing system for a flange mounted device is provided. The temperature sensing system () can be comprised of a flexible wiring board (). The temperature sensing system can be further comprised of a temperature sensing device () mounted to the flexible wiring board. The flexible wiring board can have one or more conductive traces () disposed thereon. The conductive traces can form an electrical connection with the temperature sensing device. The temperature sensing system can also comprise a thermal pad directly connected to the temperature sensing device. The thermal pad can be formed of a thermal conductor. The thermal pad can also have a thermal contact surface. The thermal contact surface can be sized and shaped for direct physical contact with a portion of the device (), wherein thermal energy is communicated directly from the thermal pad to the temperature sensing device. A method for sensing a temperature of a flange mounted device is also provided.
