An apparatus for cutting a conveyor belt. The conveyor belt is clamped against a cutting surface on the base of the apparatus by a pair of parallel clamping bars. A lever arm is pivoted to, and is axially slidable on, a shaft disposed parallel to the clamping bars and the lever arm carries a cutting head. A pair of blades are mounted in an acute angle relation on the cutting head, and as the lever arm is manually pivoted downwardly, the blades cut a pair of slits in the belt. The lever arm is then pivoted up and advanced axially along the shaft and the cutting action is repeated to thereby cut a plurality of V-shaped fingers in the belt, which can be interdigitated with fingers of a second belt end and subsequently bonded together to provide an endless spliced belt.

Belt cutting apparatus

A conveyor drive construction. The conveyor includes a frame and an endless belt conveyor is mounted for travel on the frame. A drive mechanism is operably connected to the lower run of the conveyor belt and includes a pair of side members, each composed of a pair of laminated sheet metal plates. The plates of each pair have aligned openings with the edges bordering the openings in the outer plate being offset from the edges bordering the openings in the inner plate to provide outwardly facing recesses. A plurality of belt carrying spindles extend between the side members and are engaged with the lower run of the belt. The shafts of the spindles are carried by support members, such as bearings, which are mounted in the offset recesses of the side members.

A conveyor constructing having a pair of spaced parallel side rails that support a conveyor belt, each of the side rails is provided with a pair of vertically spaced, parallel, longitudinal slots. Each slot is generally T-shaped in cross section and has an open side facing laterally outward of the side rail. The open side of the lower slot is offset laterally outward from the open side of the upper slot of the side rail. End units are associated with each end of the conveyor and each end unit includes a pair of spaced side plates having a belt supporting spindle journalled between the side plates. Slide blocks are mounted in the ends of the slots in the side rail and the side plates are disposed outward of the respective side rails and are connected to the slide blocks. Slide blocks can also be mounted in the slots and serve to connect auxiliary equipment at selected positions to the conveyor.

The apparatus includes a first conveyor to convey a plurality of articles, and a plurality of secondary conveyors are disposed normal to a side edge of the first conveyor. To store the articles, each article is stopped on the conveyor and is pushed laterally from the main conveyor into bearing engagement against a movable stop member on a secondary conveyor. Additional articles are pushed onto the secondary conveyor into engagement with the preceding aritlce to form a composite stack. The composite stack can be lifed from the secondary conveyor by a lifting mechanism to a storage site, and subsequently, when it is desired to release the stack from storage, the stack is lowered back onto the secondary conveyor. As the composite stack approaches the downstream end of the secondary conveyor, the individual articles are separated from the stack and fed to a third conveyor, which conveys the articles in uniformly spaced relation to working equipment.

Method and apparatus for storing stacks of articles and subsequently

An apparatus for inverting articles that includes a receiving chute which is mounted for movement between a generally horizontal receiving position and an inclined discharge position. A curved inverting chute has an inlet end disposed to receive articles from the receiving chute when the receiving chute is in the discharge position and has an outlet end from which the inverted articles are discharged to a discharge site. A releasable stop member is associated with the receiving chute and prevents the articles from sliding from the receiving chute as the chute is tilted to the downward inclined discharge position. The stop member is automatically released as the receiving chute approaches its discharge position, so that the articles can then slide from the receiving chute to the inlet end of the inverting chute. A reject chute is mounted for movement between a storage position and an operative position where the reject chute is aligned with the receiving chute when the receiving chute is in the inclined discharge position. By moving the reject chute to the operative position, articles being discharged from the receiving chute will be by-passed to the reject chute for reject from the system.

Apparatus for inverting articles

An apparatus for vertically stacking and storing articles. The apparatus includes, in series, a stacking station, at least one storage storage, and an unloading station. A discharge conveyor is disposed beneath the stations. A stacking carriage is mounted for vertical movement in the stacking station, and with the carriage in an upper position, each article is individually fed onto the carriage and supported by a pair of supports that are movable between an inner supporting position and a release position. After each article is fed to the stacking carriage, the carriage is lowered in increments until the desired number of superimposed articles are applied to the carriage to form a stack. The carriage is then lowered to deposit the stack on the discharge conveyor, and the stack can then be conveyed through the storage stations directly to the unloading station, if there is no preceding stack at the unloading station, or alternately, the stack can be held in the storage stations until the unloading station is clear.

Apparatus for vertically stacking and storing articles

A single manually operated control lever is operable to operate a range shift mechanism and a park lock mechanism in a vehicle transmission. The control lever is pivoted to a pivot bracket on a first horizontal axis and the pivot bracket is pivoted to a stationary console on a second horizontal axis lying in a plane normal to the first axis. The control lever selectively and alternatively engages notches in a pair of operating members connected to the range shift and park lock mechanisms. A spring interacting between the pivot bracket and the control lever biases the latter into engagement with the notch on the range shift operating member.

A control mechanism for a differential lock having a control pedal isolated from the operating mechanism for engaging the differential. A platform resiliently mounted on the vehicle allows relative movement between the platform and the chassis. A foot operated control element mounted on the platform extends through the platform to a point adjacent an operating mechanism on the vehicle chassis. The operating mechanism selectively operates the differential lock control valve and in its retracted position completely disengages the operating mechanism. The differential lock valve is maintained by a detent in its actuating position and can be released by operating a brake system having a relay valve in the differential lock valve. When the brake system is operated, the relay valve releases the detent means in the differential lock valve allowing the valve to return to its differential release position and the operating mechanism to return to its retracted position. The foot operated control element does not engage the valve actuating mechanism in its retracted position and only engages the valve actuating mechanism when the differential lock valve is initially actuated.
