There are disclosed silicone polyether compositions, methods for making them and their uses. The compositions are based on polyethers initiated by non-isomerizing alkenyl or alkynyl alcohols.

The present invention relates to a method of making a silicone polyether comprising (I) reacting a mixture comprising an olefin functional polyether, an organohydrogensiloxane, and a homogeneous transition metal hydrosilylation catalyst, and (II) subjecting the product of (I) to hydrogen gas. The method of this invention reduces the amount of olefinic species present which are precursors to odorous compounds. Thus the method of this invention reduces the amount of odor in the silicone polyether product. These odors are objectionable, particularly in personal care applications.

This invention relates to graft copolymers containing polydiorganosiloxane and polybutylene grafts. The presence in curable polyolefin compositions of a moisture curable organosilicon compound containing at least one alkenyloxy group bonded to the silicon atoms improves the adhesion to a variety of substrates that is developed during the curing reaction of polyolefin compositions cured by a hydrosilation reaction. The organosilicon compound is preferably a reaction product of ingredients comprising 1) a silane or bis-silylalkane containing at least three silicon-bonded moisture-reactive groups per molecule and 2) an organic compound containing at least one carbinol group and at least one ethylenically unsaturated group.

The present invention provides adhesion promoters for curable polyolefin compositions wherein said adhesion promoters are selected from a specified group of hydrocarbyloxy-substituted organosilicon compounds and condensation products of these compounds.
