The utility pole system might also include electrical components powered by a battery provided in the battery storage housing, such battery charged by utility power.

A thermal management system and process for use in a wireless access point antenna housing. The access point typically includes two or more stacked antenna housings or bays. Each bay includes an upper end, a lower end spaced from the upper end, and at least one sidewall surface extending between the upper end the lower end to define an enclosed interior area of the bay. Each bay typically includes a plurality of antennas. In an arrangement, the upper end, lower end and a one or more partitions between the upper and lower ends in conjunction with one or more sidewall surfaces form the antenna bays. In an arrangement, divider panels form the partitions and/or the upper and lower ends. Each partition panel includes one or more airflow channels that provide an air inlet and/or outlet for at least one adjacent antenna bay.

An antenna housing is provided that is configured to be mounted to a pole. The antenna housing has spaced upper and lower ends. A sidewall extends between and around the spaced ends to define an interior of the housing. This interior may house and/or partially conceal one or more antennas. Inlet and outlet ducting extend through the sidewall of the housing to individually cool each antenna within the interior of the housing. The inlet and outlet duct may connect to a cooling duct that is in fluid communication with a heat rejection surface of the antenna. Accordingly, each antenna may be cooled using ambient air and the heated air may be exhausted outside of the housing.

An antenna housing configured to house a wireless antenna unit. The antenna housing defines an interior space sized to receive the antenna unit. Inlet and outlet ducting extend through a sidewall of the housing to connect to an internal cooling duct of the antenna unit allowing air to be drawn from outside the housing, through the antenna unit and expelled out of the hosing without intermingling with air in the interior of the housing. Additional airflow paths extend around side and/or rear surfaces antenna unit to provide additional cooling.

The present disclosure is directed to utility poles that house a vertical stack of batteries to store energy. The utility pole in one configuration is a small cell pole. In one arrangement, the small cell pole stores sufficient energy to operate for several day during a power failure. In a further arrangement, a plurality of battery storage poles operate as a source and/or sink for a local electricity grid to balance the operation of the grid.

A multiuse utility pole is presented that may house various public and quasi-public infrastructure. In one non-limiting embodiment, the multiuse pole houses cell control equipment and one or more cellular antennas. In any embodiment, the multiuse pole incorporates an optically transparent or translucent section (hereafter transparent section) in its pole structure that allows for enclosing a camera such that the camera has a substantially unobstructed 360-degree field-of-view.

A system and method provides for the identification and monitoring of carriers within a pneumatic carrier system. Each carrier which is to be employed within the system includes an identification device such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip which has stored thereon identification information for the carrier. Positioned throughout the system are communications devices such as antennas and readers which are employed to read and/or write identification information on the chip. When a carrier is put in the system, a destination location can be associated with the particular carrier ID. This associated information is then employed to, among many things, monitor and confirm identity of the carrier as it moves to its destination.

A system and method provides for controlling a pneumatic carrier system based on identification information read from a carrier or a payload of the carrier. Each carrier or payload which is to be employed within the system includes an identification device such as a radio frequency identification (RFID) chip which has stored thereon information for the carrier or payload. Positioned throughout the system are communications devices such as antennas and readers which are employed to read and/or write identification information on the identification device. Based on reading the identification device at locations within the system, the operation of the system is altered.

A system, apparatus and method (i.e., utility) is provided for increasing the resource utilization of a pneumatic tube system (PTS). This utility allows for moving two or more carriers during a single air source cycle. That is, air pressure or vacuum during a single cycle of an air source may be utilized to move multiple carriers and thereby reduce the total number of cycles required to complete two or more transactions. Accordingly, the throughput of the PTS may be increased.

The presented inventions seek to create a verifiable and closed loop chain-of-custody for a specific transaction in a pneumatic tube transport system while allowing a sender and recipient to perform asynchronous activity. That is, one aspect the presented inventions allows a sender to securely send a carrier to a desired recipient while allowing the desired recipient to receive the secured carrier at a convenient time and/or location without tying up system resources. Another aspect improves the physical barriers between high value payloads and the unintended recipients. This is done in part by introducing randomness into the carrier delivery process such that no member of the general public or facility staff knows the location and/or delivery time of a secured carrier without having access to specific database records indicating the current location and/or delivery status of the secured carrier.
