A supplemental inflatable restraint installation system for roof rail airbags in vehicles. A supplemental restraint system for a vehicle includes two mounts connected to the vehicle. An inflatable bag includes a retainer, and a rod extends between the two mounts. The rod extends through the retainer to secure the inflatable bag to the vehicle with a minimum number of fastening points.

Roof airbags and methods for installation of the roof airbags in vehicles are provided. The roof airbags include a deployable airbag configured to automatically inflate in response to detection of a sensed event and to cover portions of an interior side of a vehicle upon being inflated, a continuous mounting tab extending from and along the deployable airbag that includes first and second mounting holes configured to receive first and second fasteners for securing the continuous mounting tab to a frame of the vehicle at first and second positions, respectively, and a reinforcement member disposed on the continuous mounting tab that is configured to prevent alignment of the first mounting hole and/or the second mounting hole with the first position and/or the second position, respectively, on the frame in response to the deployable airbag being twisted.

Roof airbags and methods of installation thereof

A vehicle and an airbag assembly are disclosed. A bladder includes a first expandable region defining a first maximum width between first and second sides of the first expandable region along a first axis when in a deployed position and a second expandable region defining a second maximum width between first and second sides of the second expandable region along the first axis when in the deployed position. A tether faces the second side of the first expandable region. The tether is attached to the bladder such that the first side of the second expandable region and the second side of the first expandable region partially overlap each other in the deployed position to cause the first expandable region to deploy outwardly in front of the second expandable region to define a total width along the first axis greater than one of the first and second maximum widths.

Vehicle and an airbag assembly for the vehicle

A rear seat shoulder belt guide for a vehicle having a rear seat shoulder belt allowing for adjustment of the routing of the shoulder belt for smaller than average passengers. The rear seat shoulder belt guide is detachably connected to the shoulder belt and may be removed when not in use. A tab is mounted to the vehicle side trim adjacent the rear seat back cushion and is designed to retain the shoulder belt guide when not in use while also being hidden from view from the vehicle's passenger compartment.

A mounting bracket is mounted on the vehicle and has a plurality of teeth displayed in an arcuate path about a pivot. The mounting bracket also has a vertically extending guide slot interposed between the pivot and the teeth. An arm is mounted on the pivot and has teeth thereon engageable with the teeth of the mounting bracket to lock the arm against pivotal movement. The arm also has a guide slot extending radially with respect to the pivot. A guide loop having the belt slidable therethrough is connected to a guide pin which is slidably guided in both the vertical guide slot of the mounting bracket and the radial slot of the arm so that pivotal movement of the arm about the pivot moves the guide loop vertically along the vertical guide slot of the mounting bracket to adjust the height of the shoulder belt. A spring washer surrounds the pivot and acts between the arm and the mounting bracket to urge the arm relative the mounting bracket to a normal position in which the teeth of the arm lock into engagement with the teeth of the mounting bracket.
