A lighting assembly for a luminaire includes a circuit board and light sources arranged on the circuit board. A heat sink is coupled to the circuit board. A solid integrated optical array is coupled to the circuit board. The solid integrated optical array includes solid optical lenses. Each solid optical lens is disposed over a corresponding one of the light sources. Each solid optical lens includes a light guiding body defining a total internal reflection lens and an outer light directing surface. Each solid optical lens is adapted to pass a light beam in a predefined direction to form a beam pattern. Each solid optical lens is configured to maintain a base beam size of light passing therethrough, where the base beam size is less than eleven degrees. A bezel is disposed adjacent to the at least one solid integrated optical array and coupled to the heat sink.

Custom composite beam light assembly

An exemplary device and method for roller swaging a tube and a fitting includes a controller configured to terminate swaging in response to receiving a signal generated by a torque sensor. The torque sensor is configured to generate the signal indicative of a torque rise associated with a flow of tube material consisting of flow in an axial direction through a front or a rear of the fitting.

Internal roller swaging device and method

A device and method for roller swaging a tube and a fitting using a tapered mandrel acting on forming rollers and having a rack body that supports lead screws that are rotated by a rack motor where the lead screws are used to move the rack drive head and the axial position of the mandrel. The mandrel is supported by a roller bearing having roller elements that are parallel to the rotational axis of the mandrel. A position sensor is attached between the rack body and the rack drive head to indirectly measure the position of the mandrel and/or a position sensor can be used to directly measure the position of the mandrel. The drive motor drives a primary drive shaft through a torque sensor to a secondary drive shaft to a roller swaging assembly and to the mandrel. The swage rollers in the roller swaging assembly are forced outward by the tapered mandrel to swage the tube and fitting. Prior to beginning the swage, the mandrel is moved into the tube until the torque sensor increases, the position of the rack drive head is measured and a calculation of the required swaging process is made by a controller. After the swage, the mandrel is again moved into the tube until the torque increases and the position of the rack drive head is measured and is used to determine the quality of the swage. Alternatively, pneumatic cylinders are used to initially axially move the mandrel into position where angled rollers then apply an axial force to the mandrel when the mandrel is rotated.

A valve is disposed between a fuel tank and an engine intake manifold in a small engine fuel system equipped to recapture running loss evaporative emissions. The valve includes a resilient diaphragm that blocks the flow path When vapor pressure in the fuel tank reaches a predetermined level, the diaphragm opens and allows the vacuum forces in the manifold to purge the vapors in the fuel tank by drawing the vapors into the manifold to be burned in the engine. The diaphragm isolates the fuel tank vapor dome from the vacuum pressure generated in the manifold, thereby preventing the engine from being starved of fuel. The valve may be integrated with a liquid discriminating valve to form a valve assembly.

Vapor control system

A capless filler neck creates a vapor-tight closure for a fuel system using a spring-loaded door and a latch structure that anchors the door to create a vapor-tight seal. The filler neck includes a spring that biases the door shut and a wedge arrangement that acts as the latching structure. The wedge arrangement includes a movable plate that selectively engages with the door to pull the door shut with sufficient force to form and maintain the vapor-tight seal.

A float assembly for a multifunction fuel vapor vent valve with a float having a recess formed in the upper surface of the float with a slot formed in the side of the float and communicating with the recess. A raised surface portion is formed in the bottom of the recess and downwardly extending projections are formed in the slot at the recess. A flexible wafer like valve disk is inserted in the slot and deformed or curled to pass under the projections and over the raised surface and into the recess. When fully received in the recess the disk returns to its flat configuration; and, the downward projections prevent removal without distortion. Radially inwardly projections about the recess retain the disk for limited lost motion in the direction of float movement.

Fuel vapor vent valve float assembly and method of making same

A float operated fuel vapor vent valve has body structure with an annular mounting flange formed of material weldable to a fuel tank and the flange is spin welded to the tank. The float has surfaces thereon which slidably engage corresponding surfaces in the float chamber to prevent relative rotation of the float with respect to the valve body during spin welding. An optional pressure relief valve in the vent outlet also has surfaces slidably engaging the vent passage to prevent relative rotation during spin welding.

Fuel vapor vent valve and method of attaching same to a tank

Isolation valves of the invention are advantageously mechanically actuated. Such valves and associated methods comprise a first port in fluid communication with a first component; a second port in fluid communication with a second component; a third port in fluid communication with a third component; a diaphragm disposed within the valve for closing a normally open internal pathway to occlude fluid communication between the first port and the second port in response to a pressure differential across the diaphragm; and a flow sensitive pressure device for controlling the pressure differential across the diaphragm. Fluid flows from the second component to the third component upon closing of the normally open internal pathway. In an exemplary embodiment, isolation valves and methods of the invention are adapted for use in fuel tank emission control systems.

Isolation valve useful in fuel tank emission control systems

A plastic bodied fuel vapor management valve has mounting lugs thereon which are adjustably snap-locked onto a bracket provided on a cover for the tank access opening to selectively locate the valve vertically on the bracket. As the valve is engaged with the bracket, a vapor vent fitting provided on the cover is received in the valve outlet and sealed by a seal ring. The cover preferably comprises a mounting flange for a fuel level signal sender.

Mounting a fuel vapor management valve internally to a gas tank

A fuel tank has a recess formed on the inner surface of the upper wall. A vent valve has a mounting portion extending therefrom with a resiliently deflectable disc formed thereon and a guide disc spaced from the deflectable disc. Upon insertion into the recess the deflectable disc is deflected and the periphery thereof frictionally engages the inner surface of the tank wall recess. The guide member slidably fits into the recess to prevent lateral movement of the mounting portion and removal from the recess.

Installing a valve in a tank

Apparatus and method of assembling an interior fuel systems component suitable for immersion in liquid fuel in a tank to an exterior component of different material weldable to the fuel tank. The exterior component is preferably formed of HDPE having a hardness in the range of about RR-40 to RR-80 and has an array of projections extending therefrom. The interior component has a corresponding array of radially extending slots having barbed edges for push on connection to the projections. The slots permit sliding movement due to material swelling of the projection on the barbs without loosening of the connection. The internal component is preferably formed of material comprising a member of the group consisting of Polyamide, Polyketone and Polyphenylamide and having a hardness in the range of about R112, such that the barbs deform the lugs to maintain the connection.

Assembly of fuel system components on a fuel tank

A diagnostic testing system for use with two or more lighting systems of the High Intensity Discharge (HID) sports lighting type, wherein two or more lighting systems have their ballasts and diagnostic receptacles combined in a single ballast box at the base of a light pole for diagnostic access. Each lighting system has its own diagnostic receptacle electrically coupled to the other lighting system through a common block supplying power to the multi-system fixture. Each lighting system typically comprises at least one lamp, a ballast, a capacitor, and wiring interconnecting the lamp, ballast, and capacitor. Each diagnostic receptacle includes a continuity plug wired to maintain electrical connection to the common block while it is plugged in, and to cause its associated lighting system to be electrically isolated from the common block when the plug is removed. The diagnostic receptacles are adapted to receive a connector from a handheld diagnostic tester which maintains the electrical isolation from the common block during the diagnostic testing.

A combination fuel tank rollover valve, float actuated fill vent shutoff and tank vapor pressure relief valve assembly in a common housing for assembly into a single access opening in the tank. A header containing the pressure relief valve is sealed over the tank access opening and has an extension member attached to the undersurface of the header with an extension neck extending through the access opening. An interchangeable vent float valve subassembly is attached to the end of the neck before attachment of the extension to the header and assembly on the tank. Tanks of different depth can be accommodated simply by using extension members having a correspondingly different length necks, while the float valve subassembly and header are interchangeable.

Installing a fill limiting vent valve in a fuel tank

A luminaire especially suited for sports and roadway applications. The reflector of the luminaire has a modified parabolic shape wherein a true parabolic curve has been tipped inwardly to produce a tipped parabolic reflector having a circle of focal points centered on the focal point of the original true parabolic curve. The lamp comprises a double-ended arc lamp which is positioned transversely of the central axis of the reflector with the arc of the lamp generally tangent to top dead center of the focal point circle. The luminaire further includes a vertical black partition positioned within the reflector below and forwardly of the lamp and a specular insert in the upper front region of the reflector. The front edge of the specular insert is generally contiguous with the rear edge of a flat upper portion of a visor positioned against the front face of the reflector with the specular insert angled upwardly with respect to the central axis of the reflector and the flat visor portion angled downwardly with respect to the central axis. In an alternate embodiment a stepped lens is provided between the lamp and the front face of the reflector so as to block a direct frontal view of the arc. In a further alternate embodiment a true parabolic reflector bowl in positioned in the back half of the tipped parabolic reflector to provide a narrow concentrated beam. In a further alternate embodiment, the clear lens that covers the front reflector face is replaced by a lateral spread lens to increase the beam width and reduce direct lamp glare.

Glare control sports lighting luminaire

An asymmetric luminaire for illuminating large outdoor areas, such as an athletic field, wherein glare and light spillage is minimized and controlled. The luminaire includes a reflecting surface of a generally parabolic configuration, and an arc light source is located within the luminaire, the length of the light source being disposed at approximately 45.degree. with respect to the parabolic axis. A visor is used at the peripheral rim of the luminaire to control vertical and lateral light spillage, and the visor includes light source shields to prevent vertical spillage from the upper region of the luminaire. The luminaire reflecting surface includes a plurality of elliptical light reflecting ridges for restricting the near light beam height, and the upper portion of the reflecting surface can include substantially conical concentric light reflecting flute surfaces for accurately directing the light to target locations remote from the luminaire.
