Ski boots and other cold weather articles are described made from polymer compositions that are exceptionally stable at low temperatures. The polymer composition, for instance, may contain a thermoplastic polymer, a thermoplastic elastomer, and an impact modifier. In one embodiment, each of the individual components are selected such that they do not undergo a second order transition within a temperature range of from about 50&#xb0; C. to about &#x2212;40&#xb0; C., and particularly from about 23&#xb0; C. to about &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. In one embodiment, the polymer compositions are used to mold the outer shell of a snow ski boot.

Molded polymer articles for use in low temperatures having a low rigidity factor

Ski boots and other cold weather articles are described made from polymer compositions that are exceptionally stable at low temperatures. In one embodiment, various polymer components are selected such that they do not undergo a second order transition within a temperature range of from about 50&#xb0; C. to about &#x2212;40&#xb0; C., and particularly from about 23&#xb0; C. to about &#x2212;40&#xb0; C. In one embodiment, the polymer compositions are used to mold the outer shell of a snow ski boot.

Polymer composition and articles for use in low temperature environments that are wear resistant

Fluid-assisted injection molding articles and processes for producing the articles are described. In one embodiment, a fluid-assisted injection molded article is formed from a polymeric composition containing a polyethylene terephthalate homopolymer in combination with a polyethylene terephthalate copolymer. The polyethylene terephthalate copolymer may comprise a copolymer of polyethylene terephthalate with isophthalic acid. The polymeric composition can also contain a reinforcing agent, such as glass fibers. Products made in accordance with the present disclosure have shown dramatically improved surface characteristics. In particular, pitting on the surface of the molded article is minimized.

Fluid-assisted injection molded articles and process

This invention in one aspect is a polyoxymethylene compound exhibiting an improved balance of properties and volume resistivity of 10-10ohm-cm, which comprises polyoxymethylene, polyethylene glycol, metal oxide, high-structure carbon black and a comb polymer. The invention is more particularly directed to a polyoxymethylene compounds and molded articles therefrom in which the compound comprises 30 to 98.7% by weight of a polyoxymethylene homopolymer or copolymer, from 0.1 to 10% by weight of a polyalkylene glycol, from 0.1 to 10% by weight of metal oxide, from 1% to 15% of a high structured particulate carbon black, and from 0.1 to 15% by weight of a comb polymer containing a relatively less polar backbone with relatively more polar side chains.
