A method includes displaying a plurality of application icons for launching application programs, where the application icons occupy respective locations on a hexagonal grid and are arranged in a first configuration. An input that corresponds to a request to move the first application icon from a first location to a respective location, different from the first location, is detected. In response to the input, the display of the plurality of application icons is transitioned from the first configuration to a second configuration.

Multi-dimensional object rearrangement

An electronic device with a display and a touch-sensitive surface: displays a first user interface that includes a plurality of selectable objects; while a focus selector is at a location that corresponds to a respective selectable object, detects an input that includes detecting a contact on the touch-sensitive surface; and in response to detecting the input: in accordance with a determination that detecting the input meeting input criteria, including a criterion that is met when the contact meets a respective input threshold, displays a menu that includes contact information for the respective selectable object overlaid on top of the first user interface; and in accordance with a determination that detecting the input includes detecting a liftoff of the contact without meeting the input criteria, replaces display of the first user interface with display of a second user interface.

The one or more programs include instructions for detecting a first input, and in response, concurrently displaying a group of open application icons that correspond to at least some of the plurality of concurrently open applications with at least a portion of the first application view. The open application icons are displayed in accordance with a predetermined sequence of the open applications. The one or more programs include instructions for detecting a first gesture distinct from the first input, and in response, displaying a second application view that corresponds to a second application adjacent to the first application in the predetermined sequence.

Device, method, and graphical user interface for navigation of concurrently open software applications

An electronic device comprising one or more touches on a region of the touchscreen display that includes the application content of the first application. In response to detecting the input comprising the one or more touches, the electronic device, in accordance with a determination that the one or more touches correspond to a system gesture for switching applications, replaces display of the first application with a second application without delivering information corresponding to the one or more touches to the first application; and in accordance with a determination that the touches do not correspond to a system gesture, delivers the information corresponding to the one or more touches to the first application.

The one or more programs include instructions for: detecting a user-defined gesture on the display while the portable electronic device is in a user-defined-gesture recording mode; creating a representation of the user-defined gesture; associating the representation of the user-defined gesture with an emoji character; and storing the representation of the user-defined gesture and the association of the representation of the user-defined gesture with the emoji character.

An electronic device with a display device displays a user interface that includes content. The electronic device, while displaying the user interface that includes content, detects a first input. The electronic device, in response to detecting the first input, displays an annotation layer over the displayed content. At least a portion of the content is visible through the annotation layer. The electronic device, while displaying the annotation layer, displays a set of markup tools, including a plurality of tools for adding marks to the annotation layer. The electronic device detects a second input selecting a first markup tool of the set of markup tools. The electronic device adds one or more marks on the annotation layer in accordance with one or more additional inputs using the selected first markup tool.

An electronic device, while displaying application content for a first application on a touchscreen display, detects an input comprising one or more touches on a region of the touchscreen display that includes the application content of the first application. A method includes displaying a user interface including a plurality of application icons for launching application programs. The plurality of application icons include a first application icon displayed at a first size and a second application icon displayed at a second size, the first and second application icons arranged in a first arrangement. While displaying the user interface, detecting a set of one or more user inputs. In response to the set of one or more user inputs, rearranging the first and second application icons into a second arrangement, different than the first arrangement, where rearranging the first and second application icons includes displaying the first application icon at a third size, greater than the first size, and displaying the second application icon at a fourth size, greater than the second size.

An electronic device, in response to an input directed to a first user interface displays a second user interface, and in response to continuously detecting a contact on a button while displaying the second user interface, including detecting an increase in a characteristic intensity of the contact above a first intensity threshold, displays a beginning of a transition from the second user interface back to the first user interface. If the contact on the button is part of an input sequence that meets first criteria, the device ceases to display the second user interface and redisplays the first user interface on the display; and if the input sequence meets second criteria, the device reverses the beginning of the transition from the second user interface back to the first user interface, and redisplays the second user interface on the display.

A portable electronic device having a touch screen display performs a set of operations, including displaying a plurality of key icons, each having an adjustable size hit region, and receiving a sequence of individual touch points input by a user on the touch screen display. The operations performed by the device further include processing the received individual touch points by: forming a user-input directed graph for the sequence of individual touch points received so far, determining a character corresponding to a last received individual touch point in accordance with the adjustable hit regions of the displayed key icons, displaying a sequence of characters corresponding to the sequence of individual touch points, and updating sizes of the adjustable hit regions for a plurality of the key icons in accordance with the sequence of individual touch points input by the user.
